If you don't have an override folder, go to your witcher directory. Go to /data folder, and in there create a /override subfolder. Dump the baseitems file in there. Witcher program will search the override subfolder automatically.

Tweaking is needed somewhere else as well.If you have, lets say, 94 stacked items and try to split them, you may only get a choice from 1-10 (on some items).If you split by 1, that should leave 93. Instead you are left with 1 and 9.You've just lost most of your stuff.
