Strange bug with ESC key

Hello,

I am about half-way through Chapter 2 and very much enjoying the game. However, just now I encountered a really strange bug (playing with the v2 patch but no mods).

When I pressed the ESC key it wouldn't go to the pause menu, I played a bit more and confirmed that the ESC key still worked to exit from the inventory or meditation screens, for example, but it still wouldn't get me into the pause menu so I could save and exit.

I had saved recently so in the end I just used task manager to stop the process. However, could you let me know if there is some way of preventing the problem happening in future.

I have seen it mentioned in a couple of threads online, but it doesn't seem widespread and isn't mentioned in the technical FAQ as far as I can see.

In general, however, it's a really great game -- well done!

I have seen this happen, and the easy way to recover is to kill the game with Task Mangler, then restart it. For me, it has always gone away (ESC does the right thing again) on restart.

It seems to be rare, which is both good and bad; it means you won't be affected often, but it makes it harder for the sustaining devs to diagnose, fix, and verify that it is fixed.

It happened to me once too. I don't remember which chapter I was in. I could still quick save with F5. I quick saved and killed the game from task manager like you did. Restarted and from then on I haven't encountered it again.

Thanks, guys. I'll carry on for the moment and use F5 if it crops up again. I can see that from a dev perspective here's no fault more frustrating than a rare and intermittent one.
