Suggest me an adventure game

Beneath a Steel Sky and the Runaway games are pretty awesome. I recommend them.

Also, though not strictly a "Point and click" game, I wholeheartedly recommend one of my favourite games of all time: Grim Fandango. Like I said, not really a point and click game but it is a retro adventure game and still operates as a point and click game. Can't recommend this game enough :)

Also check out Deponia and the Whispered World. Happy hunting bro!

Call of Cthulhu : Dark Corners of the Earth, it was meant to be a trilogy game but they cancelled it. I played the first though and loved it. Half Adventure - FPS.

I can recommend CoC DCotE as well though be warned; it's a scary game! :p Well at least I think so! I mean, I'm very easily startled but I just can't play that game. One day I'll muster up the courage and finish it. However, the little that I did play was very promising.

Broken Sword Series , Dreamfall , Secret Files, Syberia .
Good list. I'm backing these up as well. Except Secret Files. Don't think I ever played that one. Hm sec. Sounds familiar.

*Googles Secret Files*

Nope never played though it looks cool :)

Here's a list of the adventure games I can run without any problem on my pile of crap business laptop:

- Broken Sword 1-2
- Grim Fandango
- Myst series (except URU and realMyst, the beautiful remake of the first game)
- The Curse of Monkey Island
- The Longest Journey
- The Neverhood
- Scratches: Director's Cut
- Syberia 1-2

You should have no problem playing these and all of them are good. :)

Man I hate Myst so much. Maybe it's because I played it when I was like, I don't know, 5-7 years old but man. I hardly made any real progress in that game. All I remember is clicking, clicking, clicking, clicking some more, then when I was done clicking, I clicked my way out of the game.

I'd like to warn people for this game. Iiiiiiiiiit's not really all that intuitive. Now again, like I said, it could be because I played it as a kid and it just left a magical yet annoying impression on me. Be advised, potential head trauma could be caused by that game.

Beautiful game though and incredibly atmospheric.

It wasn't that scary once you got a weapon, up until then it was indeed very stressful having to deal with.. stuff without a handgun ^^
It was indeed a very enjoyable and unique game for me, a shame they didn't find a publisher for the second and third sequels ''rasises his fist against Bethesda'' The only trouble I had with it was a stupid bug encountered on a boat.. but I don't think you will have any trouble if you play it on your Xbox (it's bug free). Back to the point though this game wasnt even half scary as Amnesia was :)

That's a great list :)

I'd add all Scumm games. They're all quite good and old enough to run on any computer (with ScummVM).

Broken Sword series.
Myst series.
Riven.
Monkey Island series.

Some of the finest adventures ever created. Point and click, retro goodness beyond belief and expectations!

I'm not an expert on Adventure genre and had not been touching it since The Curse of Monkey Island. Last week I watched my friend playing Face Noir and gotta say it was pretty entertaining.

Oh guys, thanks a lot all of you! It’s good to know that many people are into this type of adventures games!

Beware before buying, some of the games recommended may not run well on your computer.

Cool! Köszönöm Neked is a listát! :D

By the way, I like survival horror games but only to a certain extent. I mean, recently tried playing Amnesia at my friend’s house, but I must confess it was way too much for my nerves to handle and thus gave up on the project. For me, it’s uber scary . XD However, Scratches: Director's Cut seems like a really good game and has an interesting story so I’m gonna give it a try. :)

If you're into Pratchett's Discworld novels I highly recommend the games. If not... well, I guess they're still funny and great, but there will be quite a few puzzles you won't be able to solve without inside knowledge and adapting Pratchett's logic. :D

Will add another vote for the Broken Sword series. Absolutely fantastic adventure games. They have got just the right mix of mystery and humor, a great story with memorable characters and puzzle difficulty is good, too. My judgment may be flawed because BS was my very first video game ever, but it's my favorite adventure series of all time.

Check GoG, you´ll find a lot of good adventure games there that should run in your PC.

The recommendations you got here are all great. However, I´d also add the Quest for Glory series. It´s easily one of the best game series I´ve ever played as a whole.

FULL THROTTLE & MANIAC MANSION 2

Maniac Mansion 2 (also known as “Day of the Tentacle”) is one of my favorite games of all time, played so many times and still can’t get bored with it!

For survival horror, definitely try Alone in the Dark series. Playable in DosBox.

I played Alone in the dark 3 when I was like 9-10 years old, and then it was so uber scary. XD But if it playable in DosBox I will give it a try (after 13 years of pause :D) again.

By the way, if someone is into Buffy series then I highly recommend “Buffy the vampire slayer: Chaos bleeds” (though, it is only on Gamecube, PlayStation 2 and Xbox Classic). It’s a 3rd person action-adventure game, but you also have to collect items, solve puzzles. It’s so much fun! At least for Buffy fans.

i still wonder how they came out with so many great jokes.

I said this in another thread, but the Cognition series really surprised me. It's well worth a try.

Don't know what their other adventure games are like, but I am going to try Face Noir next. Will post if it's any good.
