Svanrige not working with Gold cards?

Last round, I have Svanrige and Bekker's Mirror in Hand. I see that the mirror does not find a target on my side and want to discard it with Svanrige. But when I played Svanrige nothing happend, I didn't get the chance to discard the Mirror and draw a new card. Sure I'm missing something but I honestly don't know what, the text clearly says:

If possible, discard 1 card and draw 1 card.

Nothing about discard a non-gold card or something. Is it bugged?

forum search really need an upgrade, when I searched for Svanrige all I found where french posts.... so if I understand it correctly, you need to have at least two cards left in your hand when playing Svanrige (3 when counting him too)? This sucks...
