Alright, so I decided to go ahead and try out the game via the free trial on PS5 from this past weekend. Enjoyed it very much, got right past the biochip heist and the Johnny flashbacks and waking up from them, when my 4 and a half hours came to an end. No biggie I thought as I knew the game had cross-save. So after the timer ended, the game booted me to main menu where I could still access all my saves and connect my CDProjectRED account, so I did that. I didn't know whether some kind of syncing icon was supposed to pop up so I assumed maybe my saves quietly started syncing, so I went ahead and bought the game from GOG on PC since it's on sale right now, expecting to be able to pick up right where I left off on my PS5.
But, as it turns out, the saves just didn't sync. I thought maybe there was a problem with my account or something, so I started a new save on PC just to see if it would upload or something, and lo and behold, a little cloud icon appeared on it indicating it did indeed sync. So, I assumed syncing would be fine now so I booted up the game on my PS5 and went to the save loading menu to see if my PS5 saves started syncing. To my disappointment, my PC save did appear on my PS5, even showing the little cloud icon, but my PS5 saves didn't start syncing or anything.
Now, I suspect this is happening because those saves were created before I connected my CDProjektRED account to my PS5 trial, but if this is the case then nowhere was I warned about this being a thing. A massive oversight on CDProjekt's part too. I would go ahead and boot up the save just to manually save it and make it start syncing, but I can't since the timer is at 0. I can only access the prompt asking me to either buy the game or go back to the main menu.
What do I do? I already contacted CDProjektRED's support (which I had to via a different save issue category because for some reason they decided to only provide direct support for a limited set of issues which is ridiculous) but it says they're under heavy load. Such a bummer.
