don't worry, Geralt will get silver talents regardless. That one potion only gets you the one and there are plenty more to be had :)

Hi  everybody.I just ordered for download The Witcher Enhanced Edition and was wondering how skill/abilities/attacks worked. Someone in another post mentioned "Strong Attack". Are these abilities learned from teachers, as you progress in levels or perhaps a bit of both?I am also wondering how these skills improve. Do you improve your skills by usage or are you perchance taught advance techniques based on level and having a prerequisite ability? If there is a post somewhere that answers these questions I am sorry I missed it and would you please point me in that direction.Thank you ;D

You get all types of attacks (Strong/Fast/Group) automatically in the tutorial. You learn the Signs as you progress in the game by finding Circles of Power. The system of skill improvement is experience-based: after you earn enough XP, you gain a level with three talent points. While meditating, you can distribute those points among the skills of your choosing. There are bronze, silver and gold talents, and you don't get any silver talents until you get to Level 15, for example. Skills are not improved by usage like in Oblivion.

I'm using the UK version with EE patch.I've bought and read the guide to field plants outside of Vizima which has these four plants, these four plants are now in my journal, yet I cannot pick these plants in the game world. This was working properly in the original version but seems to be broken in the EE upgrade. So far other books (i.e. Swamp monsters) seem to work fine as I can loot ingredients described within them (drowner brains).

You need the herbalism talent first.

For instance, take Crushing Blow. If i get Crushing Blow 3, I have the highest level of extra damage possible, without taking C.B. one and two, right? So, withtalents that come in series, it is essentially a waste of points to take the lowertiers.Or so it seems...Does anyone have any info on this?

No, a particular swordfighting talent is only applied to the chain of attack it's in. If you take Crushing Blow I, it works in the first attack in the sequence. Crushing Blow III works in the third attack of the sequence, and those two are independent of each other. It's not a waste of talent points, since if you have three attacks in the sequence, all all those attacks contain a Crushing Blow talent (I, II and III), you'll be applying a Crushing Blow to your enemies in each of the attacks in the sequence, right up to where it says "Final Attack!". :)

I think you need to raise your inteligence first to open up higher level signs.

You have to find circles that teach you different signs. After you learn a sign you'll be able to level up in the sign. How much you can level up the sign depends on your intelligence.

You need to learn signs from circle of elements, this link tells you where to find circle of elements. Some skills require talents in other abilities to enable them, check the links in the table of character developement.GL

Hey,I have a small curiosity - do the adept, student, expert etc perks give additional power to the sign or you can leave them and take only new levels? For example, in IGNI all say the same : enables attack from a distance...so why would i wanna get the master?

Those basically let you use Igni as a ranged fireball. The higher the level of that talent range, the more damage the ranged fireball does. I.e. if you have Igni on gold but the ranged fireball on student, it will hardly do any damage. However, the incineration damage is constant, based on the main igni talent, but is doubled with the ranged attack.

I'm not sure if this belongs in this part of the forum, but it seemed like the closest match. I was just wondering if there's any place to find out about the in-game mechanics, random statistics and such. For instance, what exactly does Wound Resistance do? What base evasion does a drowner have? How do resistances from the talent trees stack? At what toxicity level does Altered Metabolism begin to work (I think it's anything greater than 50)? How much alcohol intoxication does a mug of beer cause? How long does it take for Geralt to normally recover from being drunk? What are the drop rates for skinnable parts? etc.

You also get increased range .. I think I had to get the charged up version to 4 before I was satisfied with the range I could hurl it.
