Because I can't yet foresee what will come in handy with my play style and what won't, I've put all the ability points I've gained so far into the fast and strong attack talents - as I know that those are two which I'll always be making use of. I guess I can keep playing without making a decision until I've maxed out both those talents - by which point I'll have played enough with it in the back of my mind to know what I'll most be able to make use of.

QUEN!!! It helps so much. Especially the alternative spell mode (at level 3 it takes no stamina & it returns health to you every time you are hit)

I also have fast attack and the first two in defensive (parry arrows and take less damage after dodging)

The rest really depends on your playstyle.

Only level 6 so far, but I'm going pretty much all-in on the light attack line, as that's pretty much how I play (dodge then barrage of light attacks when the enemy makes an opening). Also boosting Aard slightly as I go along, as I've always played that style in the previous games, and a fully upgraded Aard is just fun.

I've been just putting most of my points into signs. I did first level Igni, Aard and Axii. Although Aard has seemed pretty worthless to me so far. Axii is great for one on one battles since you can charm enemies to allow for some free shots. I haven't tried any level two signs yet though.

Level 8 - 5 in fast sword, 2 in strong sword, 3 in quen and 2 in Axii. Quen saved my life many times on Broken Bones

---------- Updated at 08:22 PM ----------

Last 2 points in that general skills - 1 in that one that regenerates your health during the day and 1 on the one that let's you use adrenaline points to cast signs

I have a bit of a mishmash:
4 in fast attack, 1 in strong attack, 1 in wolf defense
2 in aard, 2 in igni, 1 in firestream, 2 in axii,
1 in the oil and 1 in trial of the grasses.

High, I am good at many, but master of none xD
