Taxi Service.... what is the point?

+
The new Taxi service leaves me a bit confused. Now if the service was made right after The Heist, as part of the compensation for destroying V's car, it would make sense. Esp for the new players who have not pre-ordered 'Phantom Liberty' , and have a back car.

After the Delamain quest line, it really becomes pointless. Instead of calling Delamain the Taxi Service, one could call their personal Delamain 21 climb in, and set the auto pilot for free, with the same results.

Come to think of it, how did the child-like isolated AI get to resurrect the service in the first place???

I think at the end of the Delamain quest it really felt as if a taxi service was being lined up as the reward and that for some reason they couldn't make it happen, so I think it makes a huge amount of sense and is welcome for the quest resolution.

But you're right that with autodrive it's a bit redundant. I just thought it was a nice loose end tied up.

(The other glaring "huh" at the end of a quest line, I thought, was Regina's cyberpsychos, but I can't imagine they'll make a fuller resolution to that because it would be so much more involved and need new quest content.)

I feel like Cyberpsychosis will be in the sequel.

Very possible. I have a theory of how it could work by modifying the dialogue that players receive, based on how deeply into cyberpsychosis they are. Key moments would be reworded, so that very different interpretations are possible than what would be directly said if psychosis were at 0%.

For example...did you call for the cab? Did you? Or...did the Delemain contact you? Which is it? Are you sure? When did it start?

And that would then explain the taxi service. Psycho.

I see it as an optional convenience feature. Not everyone has completed the Delamain questline, and some players just want to sit back and enjoy the city instead of driving. It may not be essential, but it adds more immersion and player choice.

Precisely. Sometimes it's the little details.

For some not everything is about "min-maxxing", but somewhat existing in the world, enjoying it, living in it so to speak. Immersion, immersing. It's those things like Delamain rides that in-lore and in-character are considered special and above-average to underline your status or what you reached. Or slightly more mundane things like using the tram. Minigames. Etc.

That said I hope Orion or whatever the next game might be called will have that from the get go, and maybe more. If it took inspiration from some of the side activities and recreational activities from RDR or GTA, then it would be a very detailed banger.
