The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000142)

Hello.

Yesterday I bought The Witcher 2 in Steam system and today I successfully installed this game. But every time when |I try to launch it Steam try to install .NET Fraemwork 4. But after successfull installation error "The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000142)" appears again. I tryed to install Fraemwork 4 from link on your website http://en.thewitcher.com/support/#q34 but it didnt help me: when i try launch game directle (witcher2.exe) i have the same error. Could you help me?
My system: Win 7 Ultimate x64.

A lot of people have been having this error since patch 2.1. The thing about Steam is that it automatically updates to 2.1 and makes the game unplayable, unlike the GOG or retail version where you can just ignore the patch. I bought it through steam as well and haven't been able to play it yet, but all we've been told is that their Tech Team is looking into it and to be patient.

Try to download manually the patch from http://en.thewitcher.com/support/. Check if you have the latest NETFramework version. If nothing of this works, I suggest you to skip this patch. Game is fully playable and enjoyable with version 2.0. CDP said that they're working on it trying to figure out what's the problem. They'll probably release a fix sooner or later.

I've found a fix for this problem after diagnosing it on my own computer.

Go to C:\Program Files\Lucidlogix Technologies and click the uninstaller. Afterward, enjoy the Witcher 2!

LucidLogix is a GPU switcher, same principle as the nVidia Optimus that is found on many modern laptops. It allows the computer to switch on the fly between the built-in low-performance GPU of an Intel CPU and the high-performance GPU on the PCI-Express bus.

Not too many users have it; if you don't, well, just proceed to some other troubleshooting step.

And what is the "next step"?

Next step is trying to launch a sfc/scannow or simply wait for CD Projekt RED solution. They haven't said yet when they'll release it. They're still working on it.
Skip this patch, I say and enjoy the game in version 2.0. You are not losing anything.

What i`m talking about is software that emulates or simulates additional CD/DVD drives other than what you have installed on your system . Magic ISO and alcohol are but a couple of examples . There are more but if you don`t know to what i`m referring to chances are that you don`t have any installed .

It is automatic in any version actually. Couldn't you abort the download? If yes, do it or reinstall the game from 0-->2.0

I have very same problem many people have here - steam version of The Witcher 2 and game do not run at all - crushes with (0xc0000142) error. Reinstalling Microsoft Net Framework 4 does not help. System - Windows 7 Home Premium.

So if I disable My DAEMON Tools Lite emulation driver error 0xc0000142 will be gone?
