the driving in cyberpunk

+
The reason so many people think driving in CP is bad is because both they have a lead foot that will never let up even in corners or bumps sending them into uncontrollable jumps and fishtails, as well as using poor handling vehicle options with either too much acceleration or not tight enough turning.

It's not the games fault for bad player choices.

Exactly. As I described it to my brother the other day, who is massively into the game but was struggling with driving; this is no different than racing HO cars. And what always happens when you would try someone's track? That's right, you fly off at the corners because you go too fast.

1) Motorcycles and outside view are best.
2) Some vehicles are just really bad for driving(van you drive in Riders on the Storm). Some are pretty good.
3) Take your foot off the gas and use the brakes sometimes.

My frustration with the driving is with the NPC drivers. Occasionally they have mush for brains—stopping in the middle of an intersection, reversing into me, refusing to move, etc. They also start driving a second or two before the light turns green, like the programming for that is timed incorrectly.

Cars also have a tendency to spawn out of nowehere, causing me to rear-end them (wonder if it's telling me to invest in a dashcam).

I suppose that figures as pedestrians do the same thing. Which feels like they've snuck up on me and deliberately walked into me so they can get in a strop and have the arse-ache about it. I used to live somewhere where people did that for real!

Can anyone who uses a game controller rather than a keyboard tell me whether the controller gives you analogue steering and acceleration? Because that (for me) would make a huge difference to how enjoyable the game is.

I used keyboard 1st playthough, picked up strategy guide on amazon. It recommended controller, the CDPR intended for controller input. I think as a result the driving is much better on my xbox controller, i am using a xbox dongle instead of bluetooth, you could go direct wire tho.

Peds also have a tendency to dive into the path of my car. It's a cruel irony that people still do that crash for cash insurance fraud in 2077.

I hate that with a passion, all I wanted to do is gently park my car and all of a sudden the whole NCPD force is on my arse because one of the peds decided to become a hood ornament.

Done a similar thing next to some Maelstrom gangers and it ended up in a fiery wreck and a quick reload.

OK, so my belief is that the cars in Cyberpunk are using essentially the same control code as the boats in The Witcher III. The walking control, where your character moves directly away from the camera, seems to be the basis of the Basilisk control, except that the Basilisk has some turn inertia. I see no reason why cars should not be controlled in the same way (although it would mean you couldn't look around while driving - and when turning in tight spaces while avoiding pedestrians, the ability to look around is useful.

Except that you're wrong. In the quest Dream On, you must chase the surveillance van, and if you can't keep up with it, you fail the quest. And of course there's always the four 'Beast in Me' quests which are car races. You also have quests in which you have to drive an NPC to some specified destination (such as Blistering Love).

And you can steal pretty much any car anywhere (even heavy trucks, which can be fun). What you can't do, is own a stolen car, which is a real disappointment to me because this topless beauty is just the most stylish thing in the game.

However, I'd agree that there aren't many quests which require driving, and I'd also agree that the probable reason for that is that the driving control is so poor.
Wow!! The total sum of 1 chase in this based-on-cars open world!
Plus the 4 worst races ever (which i did mention) , plus other few quests you gotta drive 200 mts. (Which i've also tackled).
So, I am wrong... Where exactly? Because you have, pretty much made my point for me.
