I agree.

We can read the bestiary CDPR.

We have eyes. We have ears.

You're getting me angry, QUIT WATERING DOWN!

Yes, really. Since when anyone can magically draw a map out of a thin air. Somehow in Gothic 1-2, it worked perfectly.

Seriously, it's like E3 is an anti-hype for me. I seriously see more that I do not like, watered down crap, than the things I'd love to see.

Okay so the minimap, a key piece in navigation, in a big open world especially is now a problem suddenly despite being in the last two games as well.

Yes, why not ?

I understand that CDPR needs to make a game that gives newcomers an easy entry into the series,
and that they want to make TW3 as little frustrating as possible.

But some people, like me, have fun when it's a bit more challenging.
So why not add a mode that let's people have that extra immersion and challenge ?

It won't hurt anyone~

How does one draw a map on the fly?
Kinda impossible.

Sure marking locations is fine. But the map by itself should be bought first. Of course not the map of the entire world, of the area.

Well because it's a game? and the HUD isn't part of the actual gameplay/story/lore but the entire reason for it to exist is to help the player. I hope you're not confusing minimap with this

Or they could just... give you an option to turn the minimap off.

It has nothing to do with 'newcomers' a minimap is pretty much a standard in open-world, this isn't the Morrowind times where you navigate based on a journal which says "The location X is across a small bridge near ABC, next to Y and Z". I don't see anything 'challenging' about finding a location this way, only frustrating. Making it an option in the menu is a better option than "remove".

I agree.

I have long held the view turning game functions into n-game features or assets is good design. Orientation is key in open world games. Let's make the player work to get it. Let's have him search for map vendors, spend money acquiring them, buying fake or inaccurate maps, losing or being stolen the map, etc. So many possibilities. It'd open up so much new fresh gameplay.

But it's too late for that now. Maybe they'll consider it for TW4.

As far as minimap is concerned, I don't see any problem with it. Geralt may be able to say "Oh, it's that tree over there, I need to navigate towards it", but I, sitting at my desk without any input from the direction of the sun or the wind on my face, need the reminder of which direction to go. There's a lot of cues you get in real life that you don't get in a video game.

To me, the important thing is that if Geralt ISN'T supposed to know where he's going, there shouldn't be dirty great quest markers to tell him. If he does know, I've no problem with a visual reminder.

This is what i mean when i say "too much handholding". I hate being told everything i have to do in a game. I want to figure it out for myself. I want mystery and challenge. I want to get immersed, i want to get lost in the world there.

i am sure there is a filter sistem built into the senses mechanic ....i mean it's staring you in the face near the map...you can clearly see Griphon, noonwraith etc so you identify only the tracks you need....i am willing to beat that you have an option show all traces/tracks and you will be forced to figurout witch tracks lead you to your goal

I liked the 'this could learn from Assasins's Creed ... it could get hard!' ... hahaha, the game where you kill thousands of people in five minutes with the counter-button.

I'm cool with the mini-map, as long as there is an option to disable it.

The NPC's don't seem to react to an approaching horse and kept walking straight their path instead of making space for it
The Witcher sense seems to give visual cue to sounds. Why it couldn't just enhance that sound instead of showing these " round waves" ( look at the Griffin Hunt right at the beginning). Also making the climbable cliff bright red in the Witcher sense? I can see it clearly myself if something is climbable.
Also horses just bumped to each other in the IGN demo and didn't seem to have any kind of reaction.
The minimap pretty much had an "arrow" (gamespot demo) of where the player had to go, making looking for traces or clues pointless ( the tracks of the godling in the ground where pointless since the minimap showd the direction where to go)
It would help if CDPR clarifies if the UI was XBOX specific, yet to see the PC UI.
Some of the combat animations like dodging seems rough or maybe too quick as if Geralt would teleport from place to place, i also spotted Geralt walking backwards in combat.

Hope this is mostly contemporary stuff to be fixed later on!
