I'm going to my quiet place. To contemplate kittens. And dung beetles.
Dung beetles and Microsoft have a lot in common, actually. Both create giant balls of crap and expect others to just shut up and eat it.

There's also the whole "having to check in every 24 hours" thing, though MS has qualified or otherwise backed off from a ton of the stuff they've said after the subsequent internet outrage. It's kind of strange that the people who seem to know the least about the new Xbox are the people who actually made it.

Anyone else watch Game of Thrones?

I knew exactly what was coming thanks to some careless wiki-reading during the second season, but it still hurt so bad seeing it all play out.

I picked up the first book waaay back when it came out. Old GRRM fan, I used to read his sci fi. Yes, he wrote Sci Fi even before Wild Cards. Tuf Voyaging was great! All about a pudgy guy with brains who ends up in command of an ancient overpowered bioweapons capital ship. And the adventures he goes on, with his cats. Good reading, check it out.

I'm waiting for Part 2 of Book 3 to come out next year, in an attempt to reduce my raging. Even worse, GRRM based the events on real world events. Humans, eh?

Humans, eh?
Yeah, they suck. Tasty, though.

I pity those who read the books. The show has its own style that apparently deviates far enough from the source material that many who have a hard-on for the books can't help but freak out over every little thing. Meanwhile, I, having sworn off all reading that doesn't include risque pictures, greatly enjoy it.

It'd be funny if the show finishes the story before the books do (which is apparently possible; I saw an interview where they said that GRRM gave them a basic idea of how everything ends). I wonder if people would suddenly hate on the books for failing to include things from the show?

There are those who enjoy both the books and the show understanding the difference between both mediums. This is the lot who lay back and enjoy than either fanboying, raging or crying out like the other lots.

Sounds rare, like a shooting star or a 70s porn star without a mustache. Please direct me to this group of people so that I might make a wish upon them.

Also, this is amazing:

This will surprise NO ONE, but hey, I like the show! And I read the books!

Jaime is perfect. Brienne is perfect. Robert was perfect. Tywin is even better in the show. And as for the Imp, well. Exceeding my greatest hopes for Tyrion.

If I had a complaint, it's that the show is less gory and violent than it is sexy. Budget or something, but these were WARS, guys.

Discuss.

To clarify, my reaction was more to the fact that its a Machete sequal. I love Rodriguez's work and I am confident, especially with the cast, that this will not disappoint

Robert Rodriguez is a bit hit and miss with me. I love me some Desperado, but Machete really lacked that same kind of charm.

On a completely unrelated note, is anyone else playing Remember Me? I was kind of blown away that it released to so little fanfare. The graphics are way prettier than I expected, and the early area I'm in has this beautiful, run-down, futuristic feeling to it. Combat is a bit like Arkham City, and when you really start to beat down enemies, this Stand Alone Complex-esque female vocal thing kicks in. Definitely seems like the kind of thing some around here would be interested in, if only for the cyberpunk-ish world.

Saving my monies for Last of Us and maaaybe Dark, if it doesn't suck. Will pick up RM on sale eventually.

Probably the smart thing to do. I fear that the game is doomed to fly under the radar and end up highly discounted sooner than it deserves.

The bad thus far:

- One of the voice actors is really weak. Not the main character, but still.
- The camera feels too zoomed in, which can make things a bit claustrophobic, and the camera difficult to control at times. Not sure yet if you can change the FOV.
- It's linear and scripted thus far. You can't really interact with random things/people or explore too much, though you can wander around in a few areas and listen to random people and news reports. Wouldn't be surprised if the whole game ends up being linear.
- It's looking like it's going to be a fairly short game, which I've had more or less confirmed by other people.

The good thus far (which far outweighs the bad):

- Combat is awesome. Seriously. Nilin could kick Batman's ass. Some reviewers didn't like the game's combat, but all that proves is that some reviewers are idiots.
- Everything is beautiful. The lighting in this game is amazing, and it looks to have a movie-grain effect like in Fahrenheit.
- The music is also amazing. I can't even count the number of times I've gone, "Whoa, what a cool soundtrack," and I'm only a couple hours in. Provides lots of atmosphere.
- I've only done one memory remix so far, but it was a lot of fun. There's probably not much replay value in them, but still.
- Nilin is a great character. No damsel in distress stuff thus far (she's not to be messed with), though she's certainly quite confused in the beginning. She also has a great character design; long, long ago over on the other forums, I was arguing in a heated thread about how it would be great if more games had female characters who had flaws for the sake of realism and distinctness. I wish I had Nilin as an example back then: FAAAACE

I'm pretty cynical about like... everything, but I'm really enjoying this game. It's also making me really excited for 2077, knowing that the world will probably end up being similar. Here's hoping that the music in 2077 is more like in RM and less like the music in the soundtrack thread. Which is 99% awful. Seriously.
