The Game Was Better In the Alpha

Do you remember this video ?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JciyoGmnGyo&feature=player_embedded

It's from the Alpha version of the game and as you see , the game was realy better , with a real pc interface , a better scenario , a better optimized graphics , and a VERY better combat system.

So Why Cd projekt change all this good things
Personally i want this version alpha i want to try it , why CDpro don't upload it and give it for free to the The Witcher 2 players.

And you what do you think ? :)

yeah, there is a search-function at the main page of the witcher board if you want to add to a years-old discussion and beat a dead horse. There are also numerous threads about the pc controls and options (or lack thereof depending on your opinion), not only the ones created in the last weeks.
This is the definitive version, CDPR incorporated ALOT of user feedback over the time in all patches, not only the EE one so I am very pleased. We should reserve pc-specific demands for their next PC game, now they will/should support the 360version to the fullest and reap the benefits of an - hopefully - good selling game.
That the game itself is special we already know. That's why ppl complain so much.
Any other "game" you just do not care.

Lol no. The Witcher 2 is a lot better than TW1, it has better combat and better everything.

Yuck... they certainly improved quite a lot since Alpha, thanks for the video.

While yes, since the game is old I'm sure just about everything has been discussed on the board. What you guys might want to realize is the xbox release is generating a lot of new fans who have not been on this board as they do not have a gaming PC so this might be new discussions for a lot of people.

Anyway back on topic - I definitely prefer TW2 combat to either TW1 or what I see in that Alpha.

This video was out way before the original release of the game, so yes it has been discussed to death. And it would have prolly been a great game too, but...

Open flames are dangerous. Please ignore the fact that my avatar is of fire.

The alpha was different, but they must have had their reasons for changing things. It's possible that no realistic computer could actually run it. I mean, think about it—Witcher 2 already takes quite the computer to run in fullscreen without numerous things turned off, so how much harder would it be with something like that weather effect in play?

That vid was largely for showing the game off to potential investors, distributors and such. Combat is basically like in TW1, so no thanks. I do love the visuals and the weather in that vid though.

it seems to have that dark witcher atmosphere that witcher 1 had

I may be very critical of the combat in TW2, but I still have to say it was a major improvement over what we had in TW1 - it's dynamic, engaging and more fair - while there are imballanced skills, at least they are not of auto-win sort - like Igni or Group style in TW1.

I just hope TW3 will bring the same scale of revolution in combat TW2 did - you know, make it more complex and swordsmanship like, as opposed to hack&slashy.

This version is the current or the alpha?

If it's the latter, let's say that it simply was a..... middle version... half baked... a Quasimodo of the current game.

The atmosphere was much better in the first game. There was something dark, unsettling, yet strangely fulfilling.. while TW2 felt like just a regular fantasy game, too shiny as well. The combat was better in TW2 overall, but it lost many of the little details, like different stiles (different dodges, stances, the way Geralt run depending of the stile..), and felt like just another hns. Also, there's a TW1 vs TW2 poll on the forum, and the results are very interesting..

As someone who has not seen a video of the Alpha before, I am glad they changed Geralt's face from the backstreet-boy that they show in the Alpha. Anyway, it looks kind of cool, but not really that different, aside from the weather and the dark atmosphere. I am also wondering if the lack of vegitation and landscape outside the Kedwini camp is intentional or just not finished.

On second thought, the combat is more like that from the first witcher. I perfer the dynamic setup they went with in the current game though. I am also glad they changed Gerralt's voice--he sounds like he is Polish or something in the Alpha

The mass-aard effect looked kind of cool.

You're crazy if you think the stuff in that video is better than what we ended up getting. Just full on bonkers.
