I'm not too interested in No Man'y Sky but this interview with the founder of Hello Games put a fat smile on my face. He's a really endearing guy and it feels to me as if he honestly loves what he does and working on the game. Then again, maybe I'm just being gushy and seeing too much into this.

Rime, Uncharted 4, Bloodborne, Persona 5, The Witness, No Man Sky and Metal Gear Solid V all these might end up nominated for GOTY as well as W3.

2015 is going to be great year for all the gamers (as longest you own a PS4)

atm playing Galaxy on Fire 2 HD.

The game HATRED removed from Steam Greenlight hours after it was put up. Yet Postal 1 (Same content) is still continued to be sold on Steam. Kinda gets rid of the point of Greenlight if steam is just gonna remove whatever it doesn't like and not even wait to see what the community votes are.

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2014-12-15-controversial-mass-murdering-game-hatred-appears-on-steam-greenlight

"Based on what we've see on Greenlight we would not publish Hatred on Steam. As such we'll be taking it down," Valve's Doug Lombardi told Eurogamer moments ago.

Really happy about this. Only downside to this is that apparently DSfix doesn't work anymore. You know, the mod which makes the game a lot more playable. Hopefully this can be resolved. Anyway, let's drink to GFWL fucking off.

I saw the Uncharted 4 demo, I have all three Uncharted games, but I am not interested at all in Uncharted 4, it is just the same game like the others, but I hope it will be as good as the others.

Let's hope that Durante is working on the next version of DSfix at this minute.

Happy to see more games doing this. Red Faction Guerilla also dropped GFWL and moved everything to Steamworks earlier this month.

---------- Updated at 05:18 PM ----------

Also, here were the votes on Hatred...What exact terms would it violate that Postal 1 doesn't?

I'm super excited for this. I loved the King's Quest games growing up and adventure games are so few and far between nowadays. Hopefully it stays fairly true to its roots. I still need to getting around to check out that fan-made sequel, The Silver Lining.

Hatred is worse then Postal, now that's where I turn around and call Valve hypocrites. Have they even played the Postal series?

One can always hope GoG will go for it. Also there's Manhunt on Steam.

I mentioned "Hatred" to my wife and showed her the trailer, and while we both think it is ridiculously violent we agree it's not conceptually different from many other games, including most fighting and action games where you are encouraged to kill. We also agree that if someone feels inspired to go and reproduce these things in real life, they probably have worse problems going on. We can go ahead and blame violent movies, music, games. But most people don't become psychopaths because they played a game or watched a movie. These are much deeper social issues.

That said, the game seems to rely too much on shocking aesthetics and concepts, it looks extremely violent and morbid but also somewhat fun. It's like one of those games/movies/etc that should perhaps be controlled, not banned (I wouldn't love the idea of young school kids playing this).

Millions of young school kids played GTA and Doom and came out just perfectly fine. The few examples of psychos had nothing to do with the games in question.

There's obviously a problem if your kids play games ( doesn't matter what games ) too much, so that's why parents need to engage them in other activities: Reading, Sports etc.

That's something to be done on the individual level the 'controlling' part, any responsible parent would know their ward's 'maturity' and what they can handle and decide based on that.

Damn forums went down and lost my post. Here's the short version:

If you re-read my post carefully you'll notice I am *not* blaming games. I did mention there are deeper social issues involved.

I grew up with Mortal Kombat and other similarly violent games, including Doom. There is some difference in concept and execution however: these games are fantasy, they make it clear and give you some bullshit excuse to blow people's (or demon's) brains out. This has a different emotional impact than, say, a game where you embody a psychopathic murderer without reasons or motivations other than pure misanthropy.

Kids are particularly vulnerable to certain topics. Sure, I laughed at fatalities but I think somewhere deep in there, the idea of a child giggling at crude manslaughter is about as disturbing as a child masturbating to porn. Playing games like Doom or MK is like watching a violent action film or a graphic novel. Mature audiences have a functional understanding of the world, culture and society, and are not as impressionable as young children. This applies to any media dealing with extreme topics, including books, movies, games, etc.

And sure, some kids might grow up to become relatively normal people, whatever that means. Still I don't think we should encourage young children to play this type of games, watch porn or smoke cigarettes, if anything for the fact that it might truncate their childhood.

Kids are everyone's responsibility, it's not something to be done purely "on the individual level". I don't have children, and still I would be bothered by other people's children doing any of the above. Like I said, it's not about repression. It's about responsibility, culture and society. As adults we are free to enjoy different types of substances or content, but at least let us fucking grow up first (otherwise what's the point of "mature" games?).

I even said this game might actually be fun, don't take every game argument like a personal attack.
