Nothing really plays like Goldeneye anymore just due to the fact that it was built around not have a second analog stick to aim, but let's see.....best I can come up with that doesn't focus on those things....My wife wants to play a shooter (preferably FPS) that doesn't feature zombies or demons or monsters, something like the old N64 Golden Eye.

Far Cry 1 in Wine. Pretty good shooter (not the most modern though). Until recently there was an issue with it segfaulting, but it was fixed in the 3.18 kernel and was supposed to get backported to 3.16. But I didn't actually try if it works now in Debian out of the box. I'll try installing it again. There is a workaround for it with a small patch module and modprobe in case the kernel didn't get the fix yet.My wife wants to play a shooter (preferably FPS) that doesn't feature zombies or demons or monsters, something like the old N64 Golden Eye.

Far Cry 1 is also available on GOG. It actually has some inner DRM removed, unlike the Steam version (I don't mean Steam DRM, some in game copy protection stuff which confuses debuggers). Wine developers pointed it out when trying to hunt down the segfault bug. They did it using GOG version, because Steam one was obfuscating the execution.XIII
Far Cry 1 ( on easy, it's a hard game)
Rainbow Six ( on GoG)
WITHOUT zombies or demons or monsters? Well, Far Cry is out. So's Bioshock and Borderlands. The excellent Vampire Bloodlines should be played by everyone always, but you -are- the monster in that, sooo...yeah..My wife wants to play a shooter (preferably FPS) that doesn't feature zombies or demons or monsters, something like the old N64 Golden Eye.

Ah, and I forgot to mention that in a few places it has zombies... Lots of zombies actually, and a character named Romero ;DThe excellent Vampire Bloodlines should be played by everyone always, but you -are- the monster in that, sooo...yeah..
I can't shake off the feeling that there's something strange about Star Citizen. The hype keeps skipping me. Anyone else here not feeling it?
SC feels more like a pipe dream to me. Too good to be true. Too ambitious and massive for its own good.Like there's something off about it and you can't put your finger on why? Yeah I get that as well, I don't know why though.
I backed Star Citizen when it was on Kickstarter simply because they were trying something new and ambitious. The past few years (decade?) I've been a bit burnt out on gaming because every new release seems like something I've already done a hundred times before. In a way Star Citizen is already a success simply because so many people have supported it and it has generated more funds from crowdfunding than any other game. I think developers need to see that interest exists for something new; that people will support such endeavors. Here's hoping that the dev team behind it can pull it off and create something worth playing so that it can be successful as an actual game too!SC feels more like a pipe dream to me. We'll see in a few years. But I'm not gonna board the hype train on this one. Hopefully it'll turn out okay.
It appears Star Citizen is starting to look more like an actual game instead of just random bits and pieces:
