Why's that?

They call it "boutique approach". Basically they give a chance for each game to be appreciated, instead of spamming releases that people can't cope with and ignore most of the time (that's what happens on Steam). GOG did it for years already.

I just learned that episode 3 of Life is Strange releases on... 19th. Ahahaha, hahahaa, haha. Haaa.

Has anyone here played it yet? The second episode had some truly brilliant moments in both decision making and player agency. I really hope they will continue making brave choices with the following episodes - there's a lot of space for 'split' timelines just like in The Witcher 2, the question is whether they have the time to go there.

I played Episode 1 and 2 on release and yesterday I played both of them back to back.

There could be split timelines, but my guess is there will be only the illusion of choice like in Telltale's game. Nontheless on my second playthrough I found so much stuff I missed the first time - like whole interactions with NPCs because I didn't rush.

But their timing is bad as usual. Episode 2 released at the same time with Game of Thrones Episode 3 and now they aimed for the 19th. My Witcher cravings will prevent me from playing anything different for weeks.

Have a witcher question that didn't necessitate a thread.

For US citizens who preordered from GameStop, have you been charged for the game and/or collector's edition?

I ask because my GameStop total on the site is a fee bucks less than what my online statement says.

I honestly don't know. I've had to change credit card since then and I don't recall getting a notice it was charged. I'll have to contact them this weekend because they've been silent since I placed the order and it's worrying me. I really wish I could have gone through Amazon instead.

Didn't see a proper Stalker thread, so I suppose this goes here. Call of Chernobyl is kind of dead, but a beta version of it will be released "soon".
I'm not sure whether I should cry in joy or despair. Guess the important thing is that we'll at least get something - and perhaps other modders will tune it up. Or the team will get back on it in a few months.

First I've heard of this. I think it's going on my watch list. :)

I'm trying to remember my last GS order. It seems like it was like this, billing before shipping. But I can't remember.

What do you like about Endless Legend? I bought it last December but I haven't been able to get into it.

Its art style, its music, its simplicity despite its complexity, the fact that it tries to make diverse factions (especially the Cultists who play radically differently). I like its FIDSI system (Food Industry Dust Science Influence). I even like its combat, which takes a bit of time to get used to and see the fun of.

It is a surprisingly rich game, and yet still remains quite accessible. And it has the finest ambiance I've played in a 4x game in a long time.

Of course it leaves things to be desired, like an average AI, limited diplomatic options...etc. But I like it a lot nevertheless.

Just wanted to give everyone a heads up... A friend of mine, Murf, is going to be giving away a bunch of Steam keys today to random people who join his live stream here: https://beam.pro/Murf. He'll be giving away several Exanima game keys and other games as well; the more people who join the more keys he'll be giving away. The streaming will start in 10 minutes from now. Join for your chance to get some free games :).

EDIT: the lead developer for Exanima is also in the stream (Madoc) answering questions, etc.!

EDIT 2: he switched to his Twitch page instead of Beam: http://twitch.tv/murf72

So I only recently discovered this:

Yes, I've been living under a rock. I wasn't aware that The Witcher 3 got such a huge downgrade graphics-wise.

Am I angry about it? No, not at all. Disappointed? Yes, a little. But I also heard that The Witcher 3 as it is now barely runs on 30FPS with maxed-out graphics on a GTX 970, which is the GPU I have. So maybe the graphical downgrade wasn't such a bad thing. After all what's the point of having amazing graphics if half of the consumers won't be able to run it?

I would like some of the veteran posters and people I know here to give me their opinion on this.

There are literally dozens of threads discussing that. Most of them closed because people can't be civil.

If you ask me, I will say we should all play it on ultra before we complain based on arbitrary screenshots.

If you ask a mod, they might redirect you to a list of downgrade threads.

Its a sensitive topic. Lets keep this one clean.

I haven't seen those other threads. I tend to avoid the regular boards, especially so close near release. It wasn't my intention to stir up the place, I merely wanted to know the opinions of the people I respect (the veterans who frequent the Community section of this board).

Well, the problem with opinions is everybody has one and they're all personal. The whole "downgrade" issue may be taken seriously, for instance, who says those two shots correspond to the exact same location, time of day, graphical settings, etc.? Obviously the game looks different than it did in 2013. Remember TW2 alpha? That one also looked very different from the real Witcher 2. CDPR changed things for whatever reasons. You provided some that are very valid: it's better to play a pretty game than not to play a prettier game. The problem with the downgrade threads is they usually degrade into "CDPR lied to us", which is dangerous territory.

I'm not a veteran but I am personally satisfied with what I've seen, I care for more than just graphics. I think most of us in the community section think this way. You should look at the Nvidia tune guide for TW3, those screenshots look amazing and they bend GTX 970's and 980's to their knees.
