Bethesda's official twitter just uploaded these tweets and then deleted them right away. WTF did they get hacked?

Anyone here ever play the original Fable? I'm thinking about picking it up. Do people recommend it, or is it kinda outdated?

I loved Fables 1-3. It's not that long since I last played it when Fable Anniversary came out. I have also played that original version. Very entertaining games :) So I can recommend it.

Edit: Is it even possible to game like that being outdated? :D

Obviously it doesn´t stand up to todays graphics. I would suggest playing it, it´s a good game that had some interesting ideas :)

The combat's really dated, as are the graphics to a certain extent (though they're a bit stylized, which offsets the game's age a bit), but it's otherwise pretty solid.

(Unless you mean the 1996 adventure game of the same name that no one ever seems to remember. That's... another matter entirely.)

Good heavens! One of those games, was it? I'm glad I don't remember it either.

There are probably a dozen reasons beyond the obvious to hate it, too.

But it's one of the earliest examples I know of where a developer changed their original ending after fan backlash (sixteen years before Mass Effect 3!), which also makes it an interesting little piece of gaming history.

Ay, so I noticed. Purely out of historical curiosity, I took a closer glance at this little relic. And, as a result, I'm quite pleased I never had the deep misfortune to have actually played it.

That's actually what I thought about :) I don't know about other Fable games. That game is rather weird. I remember playing it a long time ago.

It's the best of the bunch and imo the only Fable game worth playing. Loved it back in the day. Fable 2 was pretty meh and 3 was awful.

A few shots from the Anniversary edition:

In your opinion, what made Fable 1 better than 2 & 3?

Well Fable 1 was still a funny and a bit weird action RPG hybrid but with the later games it became more of an odd life simulator. I mean they even completely got rid of armors in Fable II which was BS. Also I think the first game had the best story. It was just generally more fun and "magical" I guess

Fable 3 was just filled with awful design choices and I never even finished it. Angry Joe made a mockery video about the game and frankly I thought it was pretty accurate.

I disagree with eskiMoe. Never played 2 myself, but I actually think Fable 3 is a fun game on par with the original despite the internet collectively deciding that it was a bad game at some point. It has a lighthearted sense of humor except for one part that gets kind of dark (in a good way, I'd argue), the music is pretty good, and buying up property and marrying random people is stupid fun. It's easy as sin, filled with "accessible" features like a glowing trail that shows you where to go, and there are some dumb minigames, but other than that it's pretty entertaining.

I'm deeply sorry. For what it's worth, I also played it a long time ago. Perhaps we should set up a support group.

Yeah, first one is the best, but I still liked second one too a lot. And what comes about Fable 3 (I wouldn't say it's awful, but not that good as first two), there were still these guys ;)

THIS is Fable! :D It's fun, crazy and even stupid, but all that in a very entertaining way. I just loved that weird humor in those games.

Anyone here play Majesty the fantasy kingdom sim? It's made by the same company - Cyberlore Studios - that produced Heroes of Might and Magic 2: the Price of Loyalty. The game is super old but still looks great in my opinion.

I was thinking about getting the sequel since I just beat the first (took me forever), but I hear that it's more of an RTS, and I don't particularly care for the aesthetics.

@sevean It's one of the most memorable strategy games from the past, for me :) I still remember sounds like "Tax collector!.." and such. The thrill of seeing one of your wizards or knights getting incredibly high-leveled and legendary, and the sinking feeling when they die... Ahhh, I missed it :)

@Sunsibar @227 @eskiMoe Sounds like I'll skip on the sequels. "Stupid fun" isn't really what I like in games. I'm not a big fan of life sims. Thanks for the opinions. :)

Also, At its current price, I would probably go for the old Lost Chapters edition. The Anniversary edition's visuals are a bit mixed. Better environments and effects for sure but the dimmer lighting and the fact that everyone look like Mexicans kind of makes it look a bit weird at times.

And the UI in TLC is made for M&KB. If you want to play the game with a controller, then go for the Anniversary edition.
