Neat! Thanks for the game link. I'll give it a try, Outstar is pretty cool.

Been playing the Anno 1800 open beta for 4h strait and.. It's awesome!

Ubisoft took it back where it shined and I gotta say, it's all the good times with a twist.. The Industrial Revolution, complete with strikes, festivals and oil fields .

If you liked the series before or city builders in general, try it out. It's shaping up to be one of the best so far. Campaign is limited but I've yet to encounter a progression wall in sandbox, and I'm well into 3rd tier citizens and New World possibilities.

I've been wanting to give it a shot, but unfortunately cannot afford the $60 for it now (which really sucks, because it'll be gone from Steam by the time I can grab it).

Is the Open Beta free, or a pre-order bonus?

I just read an article that Jedi: Fallen Order, an EA game, is promising to be single player, story driven. Is it possible that EA has decided to try not being EA, and that maybe somebody other than CDPR will produce a decent story driven single player game for us? Are they finally giving us the nod toward KOTOR 3 that we never got with SWTOR? I doubt it, but maybe?

Looks like Ian from Shameless (the actor was also in Gotham) will be playing our main character. Great actor, can't wait to see him in action here!

Too bad it's EA and it won't come out DRM-free until 10 years later. I'd rather play KoTOR I & II ;) Would be a shame if EA will be making KoTOR III.

I'm not quite as hardcore as you in this regard (though I understand & respect why you feel that way), but I do have my limits as well. Specifically, if it contains any form of MTX outside of DLC/Expansions, I'll be taking a hard pass until it drops in price.

It would definitely be nice if it was DRM-free. But as you said, EA is EA, and it won't happen.

EA are releasing their games on GOG, but with something like 10 year delay :D I quite enjoyed playing The Saboteur in Wine. Though it was made by one of the many studios that EA bought just to shut them down, namely Pandemic Studios. Dragon Age Origins is also quite good.

I wonder what you think about DA. I've heard that DA:O is the best game in the series, and sequels became gradually worse and less RPG-ish so to say.

Origins was excellent. I didn't enjoy any of the games after that, really - I hated the action combat system, it (in my opinion) ruined what was otherwise an entertaining strategy-lite experience. I still played them for the sake of story continuity, though.

Less RPG-ish is a good way to put it. I'm not hyperbolizing when I say they are essentially action games with some light RPG elements. If that's your thing, you might enjoy them if you haven't already played them.

In terms of non-RPG-related downgrades, Game 2 and beyond removed the alternate starts based on your race and class. Game 2 removed race choices entirely.

I see. I only played Origins. And given it's still close to Bioware from the time of their good games, it reminds me Knights of the Old Republic in some ways.

Can't be hyped for anything coming from EA, and the trailer didn't impress me. I wait for real in-game trailer at E3 and if the game will be good, I'll consider buying it once all DLCs will have been released.

Not too long ago I bought a "series" of puzzle games during a sale that GOG had. Played the first game, SpaceChem, and got stuck in the very first level that wasn't a 100% tutorial. I tried literally everything I could think of, but the level just wouldn't complete no matter how perfect my solution looked. I think I'm going to have to start again from the very beginning...

I won't play the game (multiplayer? hell no. Ubisoft? even worse), but it has great animations: very realistic, very immersive and I love that when injured the gameplay changes according to the type of injury (leg: start limping; arm: can't aim with ironsight) and that you need to cure it before going back to normal and that takes time (and animations!!!), so you can't just open a menu and use an instant magic potion, it becomes a strategic decision. That's brilliant. Too bad it's multiplayer and from ubisoft, but I'd love to see these details in other games.
