The General Videogame Thread

Yeah, nah, I'll believe it when I'll see the gameplay trailer and a release date at least. I'm tired of getting excited about Star Wars games only for them to end up either cancelled, like KotOR I remake, or in some sort of development limbo like Eclipse.
It's christmas, so no better time for optimism. I will have the rest of the year for pessimism :p
You're right, but at least, someone is working on it, that's better than absolutely nothing... And it's Casey Hudson, so fingers crossed it will be released one day.

Fair point. It's just been 20 years since we've gotten last big single player RPG in Star Wars universe - the fact that it is from the director of original KotOR and Mass Effect is just... The cynic in me is whispering "It's too good to be true". But at the same time, why the hell not? Might as well add a second or third most anticipated game to the list.

Yeah, fair! It seems to good to be true...
But hell, it's not an action aventure, not a live service/mmo nor a random Star Wars game, it's a single player RPG, a spiritual successor of KOTOR to quote Casey! I want to be believe, I must believe :p

I have mild hopes for Zero Company. I'm one of the few people who got a lot of fun out of Midnight Suns. This looks like it might be a similar structure, although hopefully with maps that aren't just random set pieces, and without one of the most intrusive and annoying quest givers in the history of video gaming (Caretaker).

Might and Magic? With all kinds of SHIELD mechanics and kicking and environmental attacks! (What do you call it when you can use the stuff that normally would just be decoration? ) Oh man I loved that game.

As it was the old half life engine , and we have a new one now (Half life engine) that sounds doable to me :p
When I first saw the fireball that you could guide with your finger pointing, I felt deep down it had to be the half life engine. Then I read it was years later and I was not surprised.
One of my favorite moments was fighting the orcs on the island. Narrow ledge with a spikey wall on the right. I ended up smacking one orc with staff combo that planted it into the spikes, and then the last move of the combo knocked it off the spike and hurled over the ledge to the left. So very satisfying.

This is the first time I'm hearing about this game, which is a bit shame, because it looks like X-Com in Star Wars and has an interesting concept. Will be interesting to see it released.

Maybe. Hudson hasn't had a lot of recent success. I read this evening that he's claiming that the game will be out before 2030, after a bunch of rumors started circulating that the most optimistic release window was 2030. I hope so. I want it to succeed. But there a lot of work to be done for a new studio planning on releasing the "successor" to one of the all-time great RPGs, somewhere within a scope of 4 years from start to finish.

Very nice!
I planned to replay the game again, so it's a good news. I won't have to play it on my Mac. Inventory management will be tedious with a controller, like on BG3, but I can live with that as long as it run at 4K-60FPS :)

Antoher interesting article about Cyberpunk :)
5 years on from Cyberpunk 2077, CD Projekt Red reveals why making Night City the "main antagonist" created an irresistible RPG: "Exploring the darker side of human nature is exciting"

Edit: decided to remove graphic. My top played turned out to be (1) Baldur's Gate 3, (2) Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, (3) State of Decay 2, Total War Warhammer 3, Warhammer 40k Rogue Trader (all three tied at third place).

Really? I haven't heard much about it recently. I thought it got lost in development limbo somewhere.
Yeah, Ashlands update was released a little while ago, but it's a little studio and when there is an update (not the usual hotfix), it's rather a big update (an entire new biome with new dungeons, enemies, bosses, materials, building parts, tools/weapons/armor/foods and so on). So for now, they're quite silent, but I'm sure they are working on the next big update (I could be wrong, but I think it will be the last biome and last update before a full release)
But in this case, it was obvious because I know @Draconifors play it a lot :p

Here is mine, dominated by Farm Together 2 (28%), Baldur's Gate 3 (23%) and, surprisingly, Palworld (14%):

Other games (in monthly order) have been Cities Skylines 2, Avowed, Valheim, Lego Horizon Adventures, Sims 4, Dragon Wilds, Grounded 2, Bloodlines 2, Witcher 2 and Escape from Duckov.

There has been a major update since then, too, just not a new biome.

It was the "Call to Arms" update, which, among a lot of other things, added bears and notably improved combat on slopes.
Ah yes, I forgot this one:cool:
But it's true that since, they're quite silent. I didn't see any post on social media since a while, but I'm sure they're cooking another big update :)

I get all of it except "Dungeon Crawler." Not sure what I play regularly that would count as a "Dungeon Crawler."
I think games like Hades 2, Path Of Exil, Diablo or Grim Dawn are listed as "dungeon Crawler" on Steam :)
