The last wish book

Hi I was wondering what the difference with the UK version and the US one.I saw that the UK had a bit fewer pages but the US version was much lighter and smaller. So I wonder if someone knows if there is a big difference or just that in UK they got eveything in 288 pages instead of 384.I´m not sure that the facts are truly right but i know the webbsite is good. And I would like to know wich book came out first. I have heard Last wish is the book i should start on but not sure. Can only buy Last wish and Blood Of Elves in english here at the moment.

Hello!I'm almost certain that the page count will be different because of the font size / type face used, the content should be identicle in both versions. The Last Wish was the first book, it was released in 2007. It is basically a collection of short stories detailing some of Geralt's adventures before / up to / including / and shortly after the contract where he cured the Striga of its curse.Blood of Elves was released just a few months ago in October 08, and is the first book in the 5 novel main Witcher saga.Hope this helps :)

it's not quite identical, but close enough :)things like armour/armor, organise/organize ... those are really the only kinds of differences. possibly some of the terms in heraldry were simplified (dunno -- i read the uk version)

After The Last Wish there was an other short story collection "The sword of destiny" and then followed by the first novel "Blood of the Elves". The 2nd shortstory collection gives you more info on the characters and if you played the game you recognize a few things from it in some stories.

Yeah, but they didn't release an english version and instead went straight onto the main saga so it's not likely that we will ever see a translation, at least not any time soon.

Did they mention a reason why both publishing houses skip "The Sword of Destiny?" :hmmm:

The UK publisher skipped it because novels sell better, and the US publisher just reprints after the UK one.
