If it is state of the art, it will not be a random guy but somebody who is mission important and has the skills to go with the gear, as in, if you survive to loot it off him, you DESERVE to have it...if you want to sell it, you need the hacking skills to break the security that locks it to his personal smart-gun implant...or sell it for only a quarter of it's second hand value.

Don't know about you guys but looting everything alive and dead in Cyberpunk world is kinda-unreal?
Kinda, if I kill a guy and I'm able to let's say loot his new and modified eyes I don't wanna move his eyes in my invetory and voila I have +5 sight detection and something like that. I want to take his eyes - go to surgeon - pay eye surgery - and if operation gone well get my bonus. And depending from who I killed I want to Police to take some actions and try to find me- contact eye surgeons(I maybe used that eyes), check the black market(maybe I sold them) etc.

That is of course a given. This is CyberPunk, not Harry Pott-head. You need to install your gear to use it. The only augmentations that would work instantaneously would be skill softs, if you got a spare skill chip socket left...everything else needs to be installed and fine tuned...even if your cyberarm still has a free slot to add a cell phone, your techie needs to install and tune the control interface.

looting is going to be interesting as some of the tech will prevent an easy hall
cash? - cyberpunk 2020 is mostly a cashless economy. You need to take those cred cards to the local fixer before they get canceled...
cybernetics? - how long is it going to take to butcher a human body for the gear? Quicker than a trauma team AV4 arrives? Or take the whole body? Hope no cameras see you or the cops or else you have a lot of explaining to do about how your parents never loved you and its all the system's fault.
gear - probably the only thing you can reliably get off a body and get away with it. I do think some of it will be unusable due to size differences. Then there is always lo-jack for stuff. So not everything will be lootable.

Time and skill should be taken into consideration when looting. Stripping clothes off doesn't take skill but time. unless it is shades, hat or shoes, you won't do that on a main street. for anything more complicated, better not unless it is a dark alley.
Implants can be taken if you have the right medical or technical skills to cut them out without damaging them...but again, time and being seen are a problem. Same goes for body parts...need to be a medic for that and have a cool box, else it spoils on the way to the body bank.
Credsticks are not a problem, unless if the guy still lives. Juts take them to a hacker to break the encryption and transfer the credits to your own stick, if you have one...or the hacker keeps the digital money and gives you bluebucks for it.

I agree it all depends on time. If your crew is in a hurry while you're skulking around in a corp tower you pause long enough to grab something easy like a gun.

On the scummier side of town however all bets are off. In the Zone, the dead should expect to be striped naked then parted out like an old car.

But who is it who's doing the parting? If you lay your hands on some Zone freak's next real-meat dinner, you might turn out being parted yourself.

Yeah, I view combat zone like the african sahara. If a lone lion takes down a wilderbeast, a pack of hyenas won't let that kitty keep it, especially if the lion looks hurt...

That's the risks one takes when looting. I know we never sat there in the street and carved someone up. Typically we just drove them over to a ripperdoc's chop shop real quick. Drop 'em off and collect the creds.

If the kobold was somehow using it? There are ways in the new versions...

Loot should be a variety of things, and like some games Skyrim and Fallout for example what you see is what you get plus other things they could/ should be carrying. A guard with a ronin assault rifle and gibson battlegear armour should have that, spare ammo, communications of some type and a cred card and then maybe some other bits.

As long as it makes sense, i understand in a videogame there will be a need to upgrade to the bigger and better items but that shouldnt be commonplace.

If there is to be loot, then I want it to be the same as with The Witcher 2, and to a lesser extent the Ravenloft setting. That is to say, and to paraphrase a qutoe from the Ravenloft Campaign Setting book: 'If it does not make sense for a creature to horde treasure, or to have items in its abode, then the players will find nothing. If there is no sense for an item of worth or use to be found in a person's house, then the players should find the cupboards to be empty of such things.'

In other words, if I raid some random, Joe Nobody berk's kitchen, expecting to find ammo, I would rather just find dishes and a box of cereal in the cupboards, followed by Joe Nobody shouting at me.

All gear upgrades should be found in the appropriate shops for expensive cost or in warehouses and labs, if you got the skill and guts to break in and swipe them. What people are carrying is what they use, what they logically would have. No problem finding and emptying the stash of some ganger, if you survive the break'n'entry, but commoners have only common things and ripping gear from people's bodies should come with incompatibility, damage, size mismatch and other things that allows you to only sell but not use them.

So when every time you leave the house you take all your guns, your ammo, your drugs, your food, and your clothes with you?

Even common berks in Night City will usually have a gun or two laying around the house, the city is a dangerous place and the cops can't be trusted. Now, we aren't talking SMG's and Assault Rifles... but a simple pump action shotgun, or a handgun, or a hunting rifle... these things would be relatively common. As would drugs, clothes... I don;t know if there is going to be a gear option, or what that would entail, but possibly some of that as well.

Now no, not everyone is going to have crap worth taking, but at the same time, a dwelling with literally nothing of utility in it would be pretty rare. Except maybe for coffin hotels...

Of course, those things would be there, but again, would you plunder another guy's laundry basket? maybe if it was only designer clothes, but that would not be a small den in the zone. Weapons, would most likely not lay open on the table, risking to get caught looking for it?? By the time I'd be good enough tot ake that risk, anything they might have would be below my standarts.
As for gear, it includes clothes and weapons but I think we mostly talk about cyberwear. Those are custom fitted to each user, so no point trying to implant other people's cyber eye yourself....can only sell it to a ripper doc for a few creds.

And no Harry Potter style pockets / pouches where anything in any size can fit into.

Really i think i do not want the looting you talking, the only looting that I see this game is fit to it, is if I kill a women/Men i search her purse, his wallet and take her/his money or whatever is value, If I kill a police i take his weapon or whatever customization can be steel it from his mechanic body(if he is not human) for the black market or such things like that. If i search and I am exploring the city I do want to see some sort of hidden object that gives me the history of the Night City and the story before this game, and also that "loot" can give me some extra points or something that can help me in game as a reward for my discovering. I think looting is for fantasy a word for fantasy games.

That is what i want as "looting"

I believe loot should be awarded mostly for completing tasks and not for killling random characters. Not only is the latter not very realistic (and somewhat sick) but it's also pushing people to go the combat route making it harder to balance rewards for different approaches towards solving problems (persuasion, hacking, sneaking, fighting etc).

Yes but still that option should be available, for people that like doing crimes and such. And for solving problems let say talking instead of shooting and going ballistic sh*t it should be an option as well, but all if this game is going for that route. But for looting yeah even such if I am going inside of a hotel rooms and stealing valuable objects to sell as well.

EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS, SHOULD BE AND OPTION IN THIS GAME.
