The Machine

I think I posted this somewhere earlier but couldn't find the topic. Anyways saw the movie and enjoyed it.
Felt very cyberpunk to me or as far as I know cyberpunk :p Soundtrack was very cyberpunk and it has Black Canary from Arrow.

Everything that is red foreshadows the whole movie. You could say the intro is the best part, if not the whole movie in a nutshell to proceed with questions afterwards and then look back at the sunset pic. Mhe: P

ffs man not on this forum... :)

Anyway film is cheap, unoriginal, full of plot holes and no it's nowhere near cyberpunk. It definitely does try to send that vibe at first but then it decides to rip off Terminator.
That being said I enjoyed it much more than "Her". Wouldn't pay ticket to see it but fun watch non the less.

Have you seen Nemesis? Cheap, unoriginal, full of plot holes - totally cyberpunk. Terminator itself was a ripoff of "soldier", by Harlan Ellison. I'm not one of those people who thinks there are no original ideas, ( where did the first ones come from? Did the Ancients use up every original idea ever X years ago? Does it count as an original idea if it's inspired by life or nature or a dream after too much pizza? Etc), but Terminator was derived from many sources.

That being said, there are fewer and fewer things I'd pay much more than a few dollars to watch.

eh you're kinda overthinking this. Hot blond robo chick killing people reminds of Terminator 3 no need to go into theory of film and originality.
They didn't explore consequences of creating AI further than teen crush with her handsome creator. She prances around naked, has morality out of the box, intelligence officers are bad guys. There was no ambiguity, development or any doubt how the film will end. It certainly didn't feel cyberpunk to me but that's just imho.

Regarding Terminator originality. Look at Tarantino's films, they are literally collage of old movie scenes reshots. There's a video on Reservoir Dogs where it gives old original for every scene in the movie. Still if someone rips it off they would be ripping off Tarantino not some forgotten gangster movie from 50's. So when android is going around killing everyone it will always be compared to Terminator as it was most known movie of that kind. If it is good than it redefines the genre, if it sucks it is rip off.

There's no doubt about the cyberpunk or even post cyberpunk elements in the works. This movie kinda stands out of most cyberpunk tales because there's a love story that both does and doesn't end before the conclusion takes place. In most cyberpunk works it just ends not to turn everything into a love story, this time it goes wrong and the guy totally commits to all kinds of artificials and now a girl looks like a facebook avatar.

Propably minor thing but as I understood it they inserted the existing AI into the robot body. And the chick had been teaching the AI even before she started working there so I wouldn't call it out of the box.

Just saw it...
Haven't witnessed this kind of steaming pile of crap in a long time... so thanks...I guess :hmm:
I did however see better acting and plot in porn. Not even joking I mean literally it is worse than amateur gonzo :)

haha Nemesis is awesome in that early 90's B movie way. It's so bad it's great. Everyone is a shady back stabber lol. Same with Cyborg (same director), so bad it's actually not bad.
