For Lilith-sake!Sapkowsky's Geralt IS NOT CDP's Geralt. I'd like to hear Mr Sapkowsky's opinion about any of CDP's Geralt. Really I would. This is just some fans' opinion about Geralt and the picture they have of him. Respectful of course, since any of us build his own Geralt's look in his imagination. We're talking about the cover. And this cover is ridiculously ugly. I still hope this is a joke. As another user said in Geralt's new face thread (sorry don't remember who he is) they showed us some posters which I personally like a lot, featuring a completle different Geralt from this one, more similar to the concept art.So now we gave hmm...... four version of our hero, maybe?Geralt's concept artGeralt's postersIngame GeraltGeralt in the coverThis is insane!@Edk and CoryleaI agree with any single word of yours. Just voted. This cover isn't appealing at all, it's just and old ugly guy, more similar to the Sith Emperor. I don't really know how a cover like this could be alluring for future players in the stores, no matter if youg or grown-up. If the game could be elitarist at first, now it is even more. I wonder, Is that what CDP want?@E ahmetFor the game will be GREAT, no matter the cover is. You're right. But I tell you, I'm an artist and I do cover for magazines. A cover means everything in the market. The cover is a teaser.Fantasy covers are always very banal and in some occasion very stupid. But they do their work and that's what they're made for.

Guys, I think that you're exaggerating. Some people like it, some people don't, and developers can't please everybody. These are facts. Will it drastically change the Witcher's sales? That's what nobody can predict, but most probably it won't.

He looks way to old. I kinda would feel guilty, making that old man run around with a sword doing jumps and killing monsters. I should wrap him in a blanket and give him a nice cup of tea instead. He should look worn a tired, not old. He is after all the playable character, he needs to look like he is young enough to fight

I find the whole romance thing redundant. First and foremost, Triss is a sorceress. Sorceress have the power to make themselves beautiful (which most of them do aswell. I.e Yennefer) Sorceress also age differently. We know for a fact that they can be over 100 years old and still look good. If we assume Geralt is 50 it would make sense, if Geralt is 100 it also make sense since I doubt Geralt would go as far as make up and magic to become "pretty"Moving on, I find it more sense that Geralt get's romance because of his personality over the fact if he looks young or not. People find him deep, honest, charming and just. I find this reasonable why women like him, after all he is still scarred and have white hair, so women are obviously choosing him cause of his personality over his look.

Yes Triss is a sorceress but that does not explain why she looks younger in this game then in TW 1 but also Geralt is a witcher and he suppose to age really slow. If people like the more realist and not "pretty people look" then why complain only about Geralt? And believe me the whole Geralt aura to me seem more a bad boy kinda badass type and for the one night stand thing that he usually do the old man really isn't the best thing.

As I've stated in the other thread I really like the artwork "per se" and as many have said it clearly stands out. What worries me quite a bit is the fact that it won't look that interesting for new buyers, and that is a big problem for CDPR. I'm 25, love "The Witcher" and I'll buy it anyway, but will new players (especially younger ones; 18 min) be drawn to this box art and buy the game ?... not so sure sadly.

It is exaclty what I'm thinking. You may like the picture or not, it doesn't matter. Anyone is free to like what he will. @Netopierthanks a lot :)@AnwellI'm with you, honey. Think I'll feel bad to make him go around and killing monsters in the game: suuure, gramp! tired, aren't you? Did you take your pills today? No? Bad grampy....LOL :D

I think part of the problem -- part of what makes him look both old and not-Geralt -- is that his hair is definitely GREY in that image, instead of the WHITE that it's supposed to be. When I complained about this after seeing some in-game footage, I was told that they couldn't make his hair truly white or it would look too washed out in the game (even though they made it white in TW1 just fine). But this is BOX ART. They can make his hair white. He's not the Grey Wolf, damn it!

Or that he will have a hip displacement half the way into on of his pirouetts and creak away into a corner. Now we now the real reason Geralt isnt getting any more sex cards;)@Corylea Yeah whats that about. Grey hair certainly ages him. Its supposed to be white!!

I think thats why they removed the pirouette dodge animation, cause Geralt's back isn't the same as before and he's doctor recommended him not to jump while using cain xD Who's older? Vesemir or Geralt? This cover led to conclude that Vesemir is actually Geralt's son :)

The irony from where I stand is that I've been ok with each iteration of Geralt's face...except this one. He looks almost ghoulish now. Box art needs to draw people in and this won't do that. I suppose the artists are ready to strangle the community by now, as most people thought the first face was too young, and now many think this one looks too old. Anyway, I love his face in the game clips I've seen, and that's what counts.

And that is my doubt. Is this really just the cover art? or the game face is going to change? I like the gameplay videos so far too and I hope they stay with that face in-game.

I'm hoping this is just art. I like his current look from the screenshot's we've seen. This cover art makes Geralt look like a decrepit old man. I understand that geralt has been roughed up throughout his time as a witcher but he looks old and weak, not rough and strong. Does anyone else think the new boxart has some rough quality issues? The old one looks very smooth and high res while this one looks much lower. Geralts forehead's shimmer for example looks very pixelated compared to the old art. old art: http://www.bluesnews.com/screenshots/games/thewitcher2/20110313/2292tw2_front_pegi.jpg

There is something about the new and the old box art that doesn't seem right to me. They both look too western, too sinister/evil, too tan, too "full" and less defined and sharp like a wolf...His hair is mostly gray when in TW1 it was whitehttp://www.pcgameshardware.com/screenshots/medium/2008/02/The_Witcher_-_Gerald_von_Riva.jpgI will say that the in game Geralt from what I have seen does look good

Guys Guys, he doesnt Look THAT old in the game. the concept art does look old but in the game when its integrated with the model it does look alot younger. the only difference is that he looks more worn out now, and it makes sense. he is a monster slayer not a fashion critic. he now looks a bit LESS fresh than before, which is good.My Vote: I dont care. the box art proves nothing, show me something from the game. that is what i want to see, that is what i care about.

seriously, does he look old ? really ?he looks...jaded yes. wise and experienced. battle scarred.what could you expect of someone who spent almost 100 years constant travelling and fighting for his life ?killing monsters and people, and also - people turning nasty on him, their petty sins and great plots,etc...life was not easy on Geralt.moreover, his face stands out from the row of standard, cliche box arts. it`s quite original.srsly - Dragon Age arts? Mass Effect ? = mediocre, safe style copypaste. they look safe for average munchkin rpg fan, but they are sooo booooring
