Hm.... just thinking the same, but I don't know.fchopin said:This is not the Geralt that i know but at least it's better than the old image they were trying to force on us.Edit: If this is the image they are going for how about changing the website image to the new one?
Quoting myself sure feels weird, but here is another version without the blue that Kitsukaru made.ferryman10 said:...Kitsukaru got rid of the blue (here) that is...
You're right. But please, remind that a lot of people out there have never really read the saga or never heard of the games. As I've said, it's much important for that unaware possible buyer to be allured to this products. It happened to me when I say TW for the fisrt time in my life: I never heard of the books not even of Sapkowsky. CDP let me know them and I'm still grateful to them. I found that TW's Geralt was enough nice and badass. So if we want to see the be the Word shared worldwide, and having more fans dropping such games like DA2 (LOLSeyu said:"..But that isn't an excuse to bring such cover. Is it just me or just looking at it brings negative emotions?...'I think that was the objective. Geralt is someone who is looked upon with revulsion and fear, he was not meant to be the hero sort rather more of the villain type.
I thought concept arts were supposed to look different from the final in-game appearances. They're just "concept" arts. I see no harm in having various interpretations of Geralt in concept arts because that's what the word "concept" meant to be.secondchildren said:...So now we gave hmm...... four version of our hero, maybe?Geralt's concept artGeralt's postersIngame GeraltGeralt in the coverThis is insane!..
He doesn't look like that in the game.secondchildren said:He looks way to old. I kinda would feel guilty, making that old man run around with a sword doing jumps and killing monsters. I should wrap him in a blanket and give him a nice cup of tea instead. He should look worn a tired, not old. He is after all the playable character, he needs to look like he is young enough to fight
That's because the previous cover was made from 3d model and the newer one is a picture.secondchildren said:...Does anyone else think the new boxart has some rough quality issues? The old one looks very smooth and high res while this one looks much lower. Geralts forehead's shimmer for example looks very pixelated compared to the old art. old art: http://www.bluesnews.com/screenshots/games/thewitcher2/20110313/2292tw2_front_pegi.jpg
So truesecondchildren said:...moreover, his face stands out from the row of standard, cliche box arts. it`s quite original.srsly - Dragon Age arts? Mass Effect ? = mediocre, safe style copypaste. they look safe for average munchkin rpg fan, but they are sooo booooring
and what is bad with it ?artistic level, details - superb. ugly ? well....Geralt IS ugly. nasty, gritty, scarred - that the way the character was created.he has charisma, the look of a man who gets things done, I say it once more, beacause it`s an argument you totally ignored - Geralt spent almost a century travelling and fighting. even witchers regenerative abilities won`t prevent the scars and simple wear and tear. 100 years travelling ? bad weather - scorching sun, rain, frost, bad water, bad food, bad people....ever seen a fisherman? or a lumberjack? they don`t look old, but weather and work cast the burden on their faces.I suppose you have never studied a face of man working outside, or old people. do so.looking for Beautiful People ? move to California ;pyou may even set up a shrine for Eternally Young And Beautiful Witchers.@ Lupo - I suppose the eerie blueish-greenish look was intended, not a mistake at all.secondchildren said:About our TW2 cover: its simply a bad work. I don't want they make a banal fanatasy cover like I said above, but this cover is simply ugly.
So Triss move to California? I thought she was in Europe, to bad :/cinarea said:looking for Beautiful People ? move to California ;pyou may even set up a shrine for Eternally Young And Beautiful Witchers.@ Lupo - I suppose the eerie blueish-greenish look was intended, not a mistake at all.
The question is not whether the Geralt on the cover is authentic. We will still play the guy in pre-beta.The issue is that cover does not look attractive to potential customers, and speaking from myself, having a one guy for an entire cover is a bit lame. Look at other covers, they have so much stuff on them.Again, the question is not whether the Geralt looks real or not. I personally think that's not how he should look, and that is NOT important. What's important, is that the cover looks ugly, and if I didn't know anything about TW2, I would not buy the game based on the cover.I also don't understand the point of having a different guy on the cover, than in the game.cinarea said:and what is bad with it ?artistic level, details - superb. ugly ? well....Geralt IS ugly. nasty, gritty, scarred - that the way the character was created.he has charisma, the look of a man who gets things done, I say it once more, beacause it`s an argument you totally ignored - Geralt spent almost a century travelling and fighting. even witchers regenerative abilities won`t prevent the scars and simple wear and tear. 100 years travelling ? bad weather - scorching sun, rain, frost, bad water, bad food, bad people....ever seen a fisherman? or a lumberjack? they don`t look old, but weather and work cast the burden on their faces.I suppose you have never studied a face of man working outside, or old people. do so.cinarea said:About our TW2 cover: its simply a bad work. No. I'm 99.9999% sure that his ingame face is in pre-beta.The devs announced that it was final as long back as the Fall.Seyu said:Wait, isn't that how his face is going to be like ingame?
