speaking from myself, having a one guy for an entire cover is a bit lame. Look at other covers, they have so much stuff on them.

gimme MOAR stuff ! yup. munchkin syndrome. definitely :D

What's important, is that the cover looks ugly, and if I didn't know anything about TW2, I would not buy the game based on the cover.

afair I made my argument - why Geralt cannot be like Conan, Ken, Ben Stiller, etc.and you still didn`t mention any single thing - why it is so ugly (to you) and what to improve.therefore I see your post as noncontextual whining. eot.

A little bit of thinkering and you can see hes not so old :)
I didnt spend too much time on it, and was trying to be subtle, only removed a little bit o dirt and pores texture. Oh and the hair are witer :)Another thing that makes him look older/bad/whatever is the morbid light and shadow. Have that in mind ;)

i think he's a bit too close, that's all. his woolly shoulder pads should be in view.also, if it was me, i'd chose the forum background as the cover(cut off the head so as to not disgust people and pass censor). maybe change his face a little to reflect the new geralt.

I think the value of your comment is one ugly sh.t.The cover depicts Geralt perfectly from the saga point of view.

I like to compare this box art to that of Metal Gear Sold 4's. On the MGS4 box art, there is a close up of Old Snakes face, and its not attractive or inviting at all. But you can see a weary look in snakes eyes that tell a whole story in itself. Its quite brilliant and unique. And when I look at the cover of TW2, I see that same tired and tough look in Geralt's face, because a hero can only go through so much. So if someone walks by the game in a store and is put off by the box art, than they can go play Dragon Age 2, and admire the handsome stud on the front of that game.

@caboose32...and the silly smear on his face that his mother needs to wipe off. ;)Nice comparison with MGS4. Never thought of it before, but you're right.

I can understand your point but there is a big difference between MGS and The Witcher, one is a popular game for consoles the another it is not. The problem here is that most of us are going to buy the game regardless, the cover is for ppl that do not know the game and they will get the wrong impression because he does not look like that on the game.

What? The cover is there to look good on my shelf! .DOK, on a more serious note, I used to buy games due to covers when I was 13 or so, but I don't this that the target audience of TW2 is unable to google a thing or two about the game. Though I have to confess I was into Timeshift just seeing the cover when I was almost 19 xD.

Yes it is a much less known series than MGS, so there is a big chance that when people have never heard of the game before and just see the box art, they will be put off by it. But it seems that CD Projekt are very confident in their game and hopefully the game will grow more popular by good reviews and word of mouth, so that people will know what TW2 is when they see the cover of the game in a store. They are taking a risk by having this as the cover art, but I think it's a risk worth taking.

Yes in the end is their decision and what they think is best for them but I still think it is a bad choice for a cover.
