The new Xbox

+
I have a feeling they are holding back with official statement until Xbox E3 press conference when they will show of some Witcher 3 in-game footage or new trailer.

Please, I really hope I am wrong, I rather see them on PS4 conference

Pc is the only next gen platform that have big library of games. Lack of backward compatibility in xbox is laughable. Still no mods, still no hd versions of previous gen games, some soap operas and movies.

ha ha ha ha...good joke....actually....still PC is the best no one can beat it...

Let's not be too harsh. It's very likely the last PC this guy touched was a 1 GHz P3 with a Riva TNT 2 and all he knows about right now is tablets :p

Every time I hear "tablet," I'm thinking "pill". Why? Because that's what they are called in Norwegian. Would fit into your context rather well Volsung :D

And also here in India. Lol even I think the same everytime.

And I don't understand why people crib about backward compatibility. Granted, there are a shot-ton more games now than they were 10 years, and gamers would want that feature. But then again, the current gen didn't have it, and they did pretty well or however you would call it as till now. And besides, the most famous and many other titles will get a hd remake of some sort ported to the next gen one. So while I would want that feature too, I personally see it pointless ppl cribbing over baseless reasons.

Well as for xbone itself, I wanted a gaming console, not a tv entertainment system piece of shit.

Even worse, I have this to compare it to.
Scottish Tablet

I'm still waiting for the "he was misquoted" clarification on the EA guy. I have absolutely no idea how they're going to handle that one.

Nice commentary, Costin.

Oddly enough, that reminded me of some very sugary cake we ate while in Syria, before the country imploded into civil war. It felt like just about 100% sugar in various forms, but there was probably something else in there too :D Was very good though. But the amount of sugar those guys put into tea and whatnot was surreal. No wonder their teeth were falling out.

Edit: Looking at the recipes of some of those, they may actually be closely related. Interesting.

Yeah, tablet's pretty much just flavoured sugar. Almost fudge, but a bit more crumbly.

And I've worked out why the EAs CTO was right and everyone else is wrong. We're not taking Origin into account. Once you deduct the amount of raw computer power that it's going to need to spy on you effectively and serve you with the essential social interactions and adverts, you won't leave much for the games. It's obvious, really.

Damn you are right...

Already done - people are saying he was talking about the chip architecture and was taken out of context.

This is however debateable as while the Jaguar CPU is a indeed a sucessor to AMD's Bobcat (a notebook cpu), Intel is releasing the 22nm Haswell architecture in June, which means arhictecture claims will be void before the Xbox is even released.

But in any case, the EA exec then starts burbling about 'raw horsepower' and 8-10 times faster video/audio experience than high end PC's which is flatly wrong if discussing architecture.

Your Feedback Matters – Update on Xbox One

By Don Mattrick, President, Interactive Entertainment Business posted June 19, 2013 at 2:00 PM

Last week at E3, the excitement, creativity and future of our industry was on display for a global audience.

For us, the future comes in the form of Xbox One, a system designed to be the best place to play games this year and for many years to come. As is our heritage with Xbox, we designed a system that could take full advantage of advances in technology in order to deliver a breakthrough in game play and entertainment. We imagined a new set of benefits such as easier roaming, family sharing, and new ways to try and buy games. We believe in the benefits of a connected, digital future.

Since unveiling our plans for Xbox One, my team and I have heard directly from many of you, read your comments and listened to your feedback. I would like to take the opportunity today to thank you for your assistance in helping us to reshape the future of Xbox One.

You told us how much you loved the flexibility you have today with games delivered on disc. The ability to lend, share, and resell these games at your discretion is of incredible importance to you. Also important to you is the freedom to play offline, for any length of time, anywhere in the world.

So, today I am announcing the following changes to Xbox One and how you can play, share, lend, and resell your games exactly as you do today on Xbox 360. Here is what that means:

An internet connection will not be required to play offline Xbox One games – After a one-time system set-up with a new Xbox One, you can play any disc based game without ever connecting online again. There is no 24 hour connection requirement and you can take your Xbox One anywhere you want and play your games, just like on Xbox 360.

Trade-in, lend, resell, gift, and rent disc based games just like you do today – There will be no limitations to using and sharing games, it will work just as it does today on Xbox 360.

In addition to buying a disc from a retailer, you can also download games from Xbox Live on day of release. If you choose to download your games, you will be able to play them offline just like you do today. Xbox One games will be playable on any Xbox One console -- there will be no regional restrictions.

These changes will impact some of the scenarios we previously announced for Xbox One. The sharing of games will work as it does today, you will simply share the disc. Downloaded titles cannot be shared or resold. Also, similar to today, playing disc based games will require that the disc be in the tray.

We appreciate your passion, support and willingness to challenge the assumptions of digital licensing and connectivity. While we believe that the majority of people will play games online and access the cloud for both games and entertainment, we will give consumers the choice of both physical and digital content. We have listened and we have heard loud and clear from your feedback that you want the best of both worlds.

Thank you again for your candid feedback. Our team remains committed to listening, taking feedback and delivering a great product for you later this year.

And that, ladies and gents, is how business is done.

I hope that xbox1 games can also be played without supervision by Mommy Kinect, i.e. allow kinect to be turned off while console is on and running.
