The Nilfgaard Connection - PS4

Good day y'all,

I am stuck on the The Nilfgaard Connection quest. I talked to the barkeep, then interacted with the soldiers fine (bought them a drink), then it said talk to the barkeep again which i did, then i went to talk to the soldiers that i bought a drink for, but accidentally bumped into them and they wanted to fight. so i killed them all...

now the Barkeep tells me to go out the back door and the quest won't advance.

So i go off to complete other missions, then come back, and he still tells me to go out the back door when i talk to the barkeep. So I go off and do more quests, and come back and still the same outcome "go out the back door"

I started the The Nilfgaard Connection quest at the start of level 4, i am now level 5 and i still can't complete The Nilfgaard Connection.

At this point, The Nilfgaard Connection is broken, and i can't advance to go meet the "spy".

Please tell me i don't have to restart the game again....

Not at all like Geralt to want a bit of follow up chit chat after buying his new bro's a drink, maybe even a game of gwent.

From what you have described, you have activated a sequence of scripted events in an order never anticipated by the coders. And as this mission is a crucial step in 'The Main Quest', it sounds like you have described another game breaking bug. I hope you have a few earlier saves so you can reload without having to retrace too many steps. If not I'd recommend to save many & save often.

Personally, I have had to restart the game 3 times in a vain attempt to not trigger bugs like the one you have described. I think CDPR in a desperate attempt during development to keep the games story line secret, may of avoided thorough crucial testing, that would of exposed many of the bugs in the game before release.

I've decided to put the game down now until CDPR get some of the game breakers out of the way.

I do save, quite often, but i over wrote the last manual save, all the auto saves are newer than this bug..

This quest is definitely bugged. I had a different bug. For mine the quest completes but the "Defeat the Baron's Men" objective in the quest line shows as failed with a red X. I chose to not fight them and I bough them a drink. I've heard from others who have had this issue that when they go to the Baron's Castle the guards operate under the assumption that you fought the guys in the Inn even though you didn't. I am just curious if anyone who chose not to fight the Baron's Men did not have the quest fail like this, or if it is happening to everyone. The quest still progresses, it just has that one objected marked as failed.

is there a way to progress in the main quest line, if i can't complete this part of the quest?

Go to the Barron's estate and continue on the quest line
or
Go find the spy and continue on the quest line

You could try going directly to the town of Heatherton, about 2 mile west of The Crossroads Inn where you killed the Baron's men. Basically thats where the Inn Keeper sends you after your discussion with him. Hopefully there you will find in the heart of the village, near the well, A guy fighting off a pack of dogs. If so, help him, & hopefully the story will proceed from then. However I don't know if this will work as the discussion with the Inn Keeper at the Crossroads Inn might need to happen in order to trigger the event in Heatherton. All the best.

Yeah, you could try going directly to the town like the guy above mentioned. Aside from that you may just have to wait for a patch. If you don't want to wait then maybe it would be a good idea to just restart the game. I know it isn't an ideal solution, but at least you aren't too far in yet.

Okay, I went to that town; yes I'm able to move on with the quest line.
