The only patch that works is Critical Rebuild. How to get to 2.0? STEAM

I made the sorry mistake of buying this on Steam, which I usually like a lot, but for this game it's using some horrible stone-age garbage where it wants to run a series of patches after the game downloads. The problem is, none of these patches work.

I downloaded the Critical Rebuild patch. This worked like a charm, but it's only for 1.35. Any version of the 2.0 patch (the one downloaded by Steam, the one downloaded by the launcher, and the one from this site, which are all oddly enough different sizes) says "Installed game version is invalid or incomplete."

What do I do? How can this be such an issue in 2011?

Totally agree. I have already mentioned this previously, but for me and many others, steam and TW2 are borked. Why i purchased the GOG version after.

Before anyone asks, i did not mind in the slightest. The devs gave me the enhanced edition on TW1 and this new patch on TW2 as freebies..thxs for that.

So I think this might be connected to the fact that my Windows partition (and thus My Documents) is my D: drive rather than my C: drive.

But that doesn't get me to a solution. I'm not reformatting just to play this patch.

My game has the exact same problem. I've been trying to solve this all week to no avail.

I have also redirected my Documents folder to a different drive. That does seem to be a common theme for failing updates... but that's ridiculous. Free stuff that people write in their spare time in the living room is able to handle a redirected Documents folder... surely you guys can figure that out as well.

I had the same problem because I moved my install folder...

To make it work, I just had to change the location in the registry.
Maybe this kind of trick can work for you guys =/

The key I had to change was in
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\CD Projekt Red\The Witcher 2
