I just got done playing Saints Row 3 and the freedom to jump in a jet and rise above the highest skyscraper in the city and fly around at blazing speeds was so freeing. If I can experience that feeling but with a cyber city below me, I'll probably nerdgasm. Other than that, I'd love to be able to enter 95% of the buildings. That would be crazy.

the size isnt important, the degree of details is important. It need to have many details and an good atmosphere!

I agree with more compact but detailed being better. I normally love exploring huge areas, but they did an excellent job with TW2, making the environments beautifully detailed and fun to explore. And it just seems like the way to go in an urban environment. It's weird having such a dense city with nothing to do, no buildings to enter. For once I'd like to be able to go into a lot of the buildings I see, without loading in-between, and not see the same interior over and over again. That would be my ultimate open world city.

On a side note, I hope they do go kinda crazy with the height. I wouldn't mind them making it as big as possible vertically, because it's not like you're going to explore the roof and sides of every building in the city anyway, and there isn't really supposed to be anything up there in the first place. ;)

Keeping it within NC is nice to start with. The bigger and complex the world is the longer till ship date. I say start small then grow.

Yes, start at this point and work your way up in size. Much rather have 50 square blocks with immense detail than 100 with filler/repetition.

I want to repeat a point I think is important...I think it would be a great idea to have a game that doesn't hold your hand in regards to the map and missions. If an NPC has a mission for me somewhere in Dark City, at least have an option to turn off map mission markers, and give alternate methods to find your way....could be as simple as a mission summary in a tablet device/HUD that tells you the area to go and what to look for. Obviously in the future you could use GPS tech to find something like a street...which is why I say make you find something within a street area that could either be found with a map marker or with written instructions. That way it's not too difficult to navigate to an area but requires a little more exploration/challenge if you want that.

I'd want the map to be based on hubs that you can freely (but with a possible risk/cost involved) travel between. Not small and confined hubs, but large enough to offer some "exploration".

I tend to find sandbox maps (like GTA and its ilk, or ES games) to be rather boring as most of the gamespace is but a set decoration and everything tends to feel compressed. Large open spaces like that tend to limit [meaningful] interactivity for the sake of visual fluff. I'd not want that from this game.

The actual size of the map doesn't bother me that much I just want to be able to go anywhere I want within that map,If I can see it I don't want any invisible walls that will prevent me from getting there.

I'd like the option of there being something outside of Night City so that the game can be expanded by DLC and modding beyond NC.... The scope of this game is really, really large, far larger than a development team on their own could probably take on..... Allowing the community to take up some of the slack after release via modding would be of great benefit.

They didn't confirm it anything yet but Night City might not be only location in game. I just don't want to see empty space, deserts or empty fields like in Arma2 or Fallout.

One decent well done city is enough...

Here I found these maps of CP2020;

I'm interested to see how open the world really will be, after all it's set in an enormous city. My fear is that we'll only be only to access a handful of the buildings or structures, leaving most of them for show. They should really aim to create a city that's really open to us, rather than a handful of hubs being on offer.

Everyone should get it that bigger doesnt mean better.
A huge city with no details and things to explore is shit.
A small but highly detailed city with a great atmosphere is much better.

I think even if its just some Nomad colonies and camps as long as there's some assets outside the main NC models and textures, or if some of the Witcher 2/3 assets are compatible, then the modding community will be able to take that and see where it leads

The fourth corporate war in Cyberpunk 2020 ended with the detonation of a nuke on top of the Arasaka Tower, resulting in the entire corporate district being annihilated. We have the reconstruction of the buildings somewhere else. It is the same city, but it moved a little closer to the coast. You’ll find some legendary places like Afterlife. The corporations will also remain present – Arasaka, Dynalar, KiroshI etc, be sure to find them.

I would like to see big radioactive hole in the city, like in Akira.

Not really, its only useless if you have to walk and there is no point to it... a desert where you can rip across the wasteland in your souped up muscle car is flipping awesome... besides, it beats the shit out the game map either just ending abruptly, or worse, another bloody island that could never sustain the population on it... Instead of surrounding the place with water, why not have some desert, some forest, or whatever...

To complain about the open wasteland in Fallout is entirely missing the whole point of the game... and not having a representation of the abandoned rurality of Cyberpunk, would kind of be missing the point of this game as well.

I disagree with you about not wanting to see some desert wasteland in the game, but glad you are a fan of my site... or at least my map...

Not at all.

Yes, the rest of the United States is a horrible place. Europe, however, is thriving. Europe is where the rich live, Europe is where the best cyber comes from (aside from the orbit). Then there are of course places in Asia also thriving, such as Japan.

In Cyberpunk 2020, the U.S. is basically the ass-end of the planet.

Well, I wouldn't mind if they added the Crystal Palace, but I'm guessing that will be in the expansion.

I totally agree.

Probably my least favorite thing about Sleeping Dogs was having this huge cityscape to explore, and the middle half was a huge mountain that was mostly inaccessible.
