I disagree with you about not wanting to see some desert wasteland in the game, but glad you are a fan of my site... or at least my map...

I totally agree.

Probably my least favorite thing about Sleeping Dogs was having this huge cityscape to explore, and the middle half was a huge mountain that was mostly inaccessible.

I gotta admit, Sleeping dogs was the best sandbox/open world game since Saints Row 2, but not being able to explore the mountain, having random arbitrary barriers... bugged the ever loving crap out of me...

Well I guess it would be cool to actually leave the city if quests are interesting and they wont make us walk on the empty fields for hours from A>B, B>C, C>A.

Yeah, I loved everything about Sleeping Dogs except that.

Now, if we had a well detailed and interactable Night City to play in, and a huge wasteland/ prairie/ desert area ala Red Dead Redemption that was also fully explorable, I think we'd have something everyone would love.

This. Big is pointless if there's nothing in it worth seeing.

Sometimes nothing being there is the point... although, I would very much liek there to be raiders and nomad encampents out there...

I would be disappointed and a bit surprised if they didn't allow us to visit the Crystal Palace, if not in the actual game, then in an expansion. It has so much potential. From there it's not even a long jump to visit Tycho on the Moon surface, so that would give us two locations besides Night City which are pretty much iconic to Cyberpunk 2020. There'd a bit of variety then.

Honestly, I would rather have empty desert than be transported to space for the Crystal Palace... if I get the desert though, especially in the core game... then a Crystal Palace expansion would be awesome as DLC... but if I ahve to choose between the two... Desert all the way... I want nomad action baby....

Heh, I ran a game that culminated there.... the players got in a fight outside the Palace... a player fumbled his roll and ended up going through re-entry... without a spaceship.....

same here, in open world, AC3 nailed it. Combined the best of the city and outer side,
As much as I want a detailed NC with lot of stuff to do, outskirts and around areas as such would make it epic

Hi everyone, first post. Glad to be in the community.

For me the most important thing is the city. Lots of details and lots of enterable buildings. Would be nice to have a huge desert/wasteland but if there is nothing to do in it don't see the point (except a natural environment style).

Anyway, nice forum, can't wait for more news !

For those of you who don't know much about Night City, here's a nice colorful map of the different districts of the city in Cyberpunk 2020. Mind you, it will most likely not be the same in 2077, what with nuclear bombs and all.

Night City is located on the west coast, south from San Francisco. There was a time when (being Finnish myself) I just thought of Night City as an east cost city, much like New York.

Just in case someone wasn't really sure what or where Night City is.

We all do want the same thing. But as always one thing lets to another. I want if can be all buildings that i can enter and not seeing the same structure over and over like fallout3. Having it load, is kind of weird, but that happen if they create it like that and how big and much things that loading scene have. For me is wish every part of this "CITY" can be entered, it is called city and i think the world immersion will be rather good and way better because of it. And i know that look at GTA4 or San Andreas, they are BIG or whatever, but they do not have all buildings can't be entered.

Well then is up to use to ask such thing and keep asking and let them know how much "bad" we want it. Anyway if they can make all the buildings enterable, do you think you are going to go each room building searching for something, the only thing I can see that happening is if they have hiding objects for us to collect. Not get me wrong I want this game to be as nothing as we all haven't seen. But is good to have that type of world.

Night City University was originally called Richard Night University, built in 1994 - the same year Night City was founded, by the founder Richard Alix Night.

Thus the city is called Night City.

Just a small tidbit of information for those interested.

Hm. Lots of discussions keep coming back to the build-out of Night City, and how that would impact other areas of gameplay. Whether or not the dev time for introducing vehicle mechanics would impact the dev timetable for the rest of the city, how we should be able to interact with the city, how many enterable buildings there should be, etc.

Anyone ever play the Xbox game Crackdown? Future / CP-ish setting, running off of the "GTA" game model. There was LOTS of verticallity in the game, with large, looming buildings that, oftentimes, gangs would be shooting at you from. Since I don't own an Xbox m'self, I never got a chance to clock much time on the game, so I don't know how interactive the buildings were, outside of being sets / maps that your firefights took place in / on / around.
