The Opening Movie (the striga fight)

Does anybody else watch some or all of the opening movie every time they start up the game?I don't usually watch it all the way to the end, but I usually watch at least some of it. Sometimes I watch just the initial preparations (up till the lid of the sarcophagus moves), sometimes I watch until the striga runs off, whimpering, and sometimes I watch until she wakes up at the end. I love actually playing the game, of course, but the opening movie just fascinates me. I know every word the narrator is going to say, every move that Geralt and the striga are going to make, and yet somehow, I want to watch it all again.Of course, I did do Janet at Rocky Horror for a year, back when I was in college, so that may have given me an unusual taste for infinite repeats of the same thing. :)

In the same boat... i can say how many times i have watched it... and remarkably, i find some new details every time... This movie is taken from the beginning of the book "The last wish".They reproduced it very very well.. !

I'm glad to hear it! (Though I'm assuming that you mean that you CAN'T say how many times you've watched it.)They've packed a lot in there. I wondered at first why they had the long sequence panning from Geralt's position to the sarcophogus, then realized, after seeing the close-up of Gerat's ear for the twentieth time, that they were showing us how far away the sarcophogus was and the fact that he heard it scraping anyway, to show us that witchers have better hearing than non-mutated humans. I'm wondering what else I'll realize after watching the movie another bazillion times.Geralt seems so real in the opening movie that I honestly thought he was being portrayed by an actor at first. They've really done a stunning job.

I have the book pre-ordered from Amazon. It's supposed to get here May 1st, and I can't wait!I won't be able to speak to the quality of the reproduction until then, but the quality of the opening movie in general just blows me away! They should put the entire opening movie on YouTube, because one just HAS to play the game after seeing it -- maybe they'd sell another 600,000 copies. :)

Yes, the opening movie is superb! Especially the Geralt animation looks amazingly real. When starting the game I usually watch the movie first!

Jaw dropping intro!!! Best I've seen in any game or platform, hands down. I've owned many many game systems since atari. Im 35 now and just purchased the Asus G1 and this game. The graphics are unbelievable, both the intro and in game play. I just might sell my xbox 360,lol. Anyone know where I can get a hold of a image of the creature in the intro? It would make a bad a-- tattoo.

My favourite thing about the intro are all the little details that actually feature in the game. Such as the little hourglass that Geralt uses when meditating or the journal page about Strigas on the desk at the beginning. These little additions make me smile every time.

Thanks for pointing this out! I usually watch his eyes more than his mouth, but since you mentioned it, I looked extra carefully this time and saw a very brief smile when the striga left the building to run after the traitor. I don't know if he's happy that the striga has come out or that the traitor has been executed, but either way, we get that split-second smile.Cool! So what else have you noticed that we might want to look for?

You do realise that this is a game rated 18...so hide that game from your grandson and make it a birthday present at his 18 years anniversary ;)I'm sure it will be as good as now

My question is rather simple: is there a way to have the opening and ending cinematic videos in full quality? And I mean with the highest definition possible and with all the spoken dialogues within..I've tried to extract and view those sequences from within the game files and using the BINK player, but there's no spoken dialogue nor subtitles..any help? :)I was hoping to have them as a "bonus content" in the enhanced ed., but it does not seem so..

I have the watered down US version ======= he has games he plays that are 10 times worst than [glow=red,2,300]The Witcher [/glow] is =============== he also knows what is make belieave and realthere are cartoons on TV that are 100 times worst than [glow=red,2,300]The Witcher [/glow] could ever be not watered down but understand what you mean :) ;) but would rather he saw a really good game made tastfully than the junk he gets from TV and games that have underling meanings that he asks about he's really smart ======== he's a great little general on stradegy games

Yes, I think it was kick-shove thing and still, I didn't seen it there before... I wonder did the man ran because of that? He was scared of Geralt more then Striga, or did he got the wrong idea about his atletic body [-oh, hey, I might just run faster then monster!] well if I was him I try to run like hell either way :) ;) ;D ------------------------- best to run today and hope to fight another day ::) :'([glow=red,2,300]Happy Witching[/glow]

Okay, you can tell how bad I've got it.Today, my husband hooked my laptop up to his big TV, so that I could see the opening movie in a larger format. Yep, it's still cool.My husband and I went to see the Jackie Chan/Jet Li movie "The Forbidden Kingdom," and when the movie was about to start, I realized that I was expecting the opening movie from The Witcher. Um, right. Cory, you may need to get out more. :)When I read The Last Wish, I got to read the original of the striga fight, and I was impressed at how well the developers captured it. The book also explains some things in the movie that I hadn't been sure I understood, making it even cooler.

***Spoliler***He ran as he was responsible for the curse on the princess that turned her into a Striga. He knew Geralt was using him as a decoy. He loved the kings sister but was disgusted because the king was his sister, (the queen's) lover and was the father of the princess, the queen died at birth and the incestuous child also died, becoming a striga after 7 years of lying "dead" in the tomb. A further seven years of terror followed but the king did not want his daughter killed, that's why Geralt was being so gentle with her/it!For more clarity read the first chapter of the awesom "The Last Wish".Masrock

Hmm .. I tend to skip the openings in all my games (and disable as many as I can), 'cos I'm impatient to get to the playing.Intro is cool, though.
