I didn't find her face "common"... she was more attractive imo. And really, all that makeup wasn't necessary... I know I said it before, but it REALLY seems to me that all the major female characters shown so far (and even that herbalist in the gameplay video) look too much like porn actresses. I get it, it's a matter of taste, but I don't like it.

Porn actress? Lolwat, my friend? xD I agree about the make-up, but... not the rest. Of course, it's a matter of taste.
That's strange, last time, when SoD just popped up, I read that all female characters looked the same, only hair and make-up were different. An heretic journalist from GameInformer said Ciri was Triss, and I was already preparing the wood for the stake.
Now that this model is more particular, is ugly instead. Why (?). As I've already said the stance is a bit weird because it's a guide... but I think she is "normal" when she's moving or talking. She's not ugly.

tl;dr I like her. Many don't, it seems.

Yeah, porn actresses. Or better, porn actress stereotypes: perfect chest, even more perfect bodies, attractive eyes, fleshy lips, and makeup everywhere LOL
Now, I can understand this for sorceresses, that's how they're supposed to look, but I think it has been exaggerated a bit. Also, I don't get why they had to apply that kind of look to common women too, like that herbalist I mentioned before. But the game is still a WIP, and we have seen only a LITTLE bit of it so far. So I may be wrong and not every woman we'll meet will have that look, of course. It's just a small worry that I have :)

I uh.. I like her too. I like her quite much.

I also understand that is is really hard to "love" a WIP character model on first sight. We've not seem that much of her. Surely some small tweaks could be made. But she is definitely Yennefer. I like her.

Well, not always. Assire van Anahid was ugly. :-

You have a point here, lol.

That's it. That's what I wanted to say, I'm glad I'm not alone here.

@Synvael yeah, I was not counting Assire, I was talking about northern sorceresses (even though even Assire was beautiful in TW2...) xD

Poor Assire, she appeared for, like, 2 minutes, then Shilard kicked her out, at least she was beautiful (I didn't like her look by the way). xD

I'm very happy that they changed the hair, but I see no reason why they had to model her face after Eve. I too, prefer the SoD face.

I think this is simply CDPR stepping their toes into the water. Little tweaks to see the fans response.

I'm sure this won't be the final version. I'd say that overall this is much better than the SoD version. Her face has much more character, even if she is expressionless. The word "generic" didn't even cross my mind, and that was what most people were saying after the SoD trailer. What they've done has a lot of potential, and some space for improvement. They'll fix her up before release that's for sure.

I bet she is the hardest one to pull off. Given her "presentation" in the books. Hard to create Geralt's "perfect woman".

if you look at the comparison they didn't change the model only her texture.

She doesn't looks like Eve, who has a bigger forehead and chin. Yennefer looks more balanced and doesn't look too idealized

I don't know... I certainly see a resemblance.

If they actually made her look like Eve in that image, she would be perfect. The one in the cosplay guide looks confused and insecure, both of which are completely contradictory to Yennefer's character.

As I said in another thread, this being a cosplay guide they probably didn't focus on the model actually having an expression, thus it being in this "default" state (as was the case with the rest of the guides). I wouldn't judge on how CDPR handled Yen's character based on this guide alone, I'd rather like to see her in motion with a bit of VA thrown on top to make a proper judgement.

But my point wasn't about the expression on her face (or lack thereof), it was about the change to her face structure compared to the SoD trailer, when it wasn't actually needed in my opinion.

As for Eve being the perfect Yennefer, to each their own I guess. :)

I like her look. While I don't think it's perfect ( CD Project Red can't make everyone happy, as everybody has a different imagination of her) I'm fine with her look. I would have imagined her a bit older and hardened looking but I think it's a big improvement after the SoD trailer. Her outfits looks perfect and finally we see her with black hair::) And I don't understand why people are again moaning about the heels. In opposite to Ciri high heels are perfectly fitting to Yennefer.

Hmm, good point actually. As a sorceress, you don't need to have a fancy repertoire of moves in order to be combat efficient. Not to mention that most sorceresses sit in a throne room somewhere most of the time (might not be the case with Yen, but still), so looking stylish is a plus. ;)

At a first glance a few things seem a bit off, but let's keep in mind that the ingame camera
can make a great 3D model look a bit weird, especially when zooming in on it.

I have faith in CDPR and I trust their character designers, they know what they are doing.
Let's wait for Yennefer ingame footage before we get our torches and pitchforks, ok ?

@EmperorZorn nice work with the edged face and the chin, the only thing that I don't like are the eyebrows, I think the ones from CDPR look better. The rest is a huge improvement though :)

your Yennefer edit looks way too mousy for me. She reminds me of Natalia Tena.

also angled eyebrows are kinda generic imo

I say respect CDPR artists ya know. The point about viewing an artists work is we want to know what their standard of beauty is. I'd rather have something unique than something that everyone voted on.

Pitchforks. Geralt's best friend. :p

I like your adjustments. If the eyebrows were lower as well, it would give that more serious edge to her that I think people want.

Generic? The large majority of people's eyebrows have some kind of angle to them. Doesn't make it generic, just a human trait. The more angled, the more serious that person tends to look which given Yen's character, would not be out of place.

I think both have a bit of the mousy look, but part of that could be that lack of animation/expression on the face right now and the warp from the camera focal length. And we certainly respect CDPR's artists, but that doesn't mean we can't give some of our feedback and thoughts as well. They obviously listened to some of the previous complaints/suggestions/feedback. It can still have input from the fans and still be unique; CDPR will decide what they think is best in the end regardless.
