I'm sorry if I came across as a complete bastard, it wasn't my intent to do so. I just don't like seeing conflict between anyone here or the devs, I think that patience is the best thing right now.

I get where you are coming from, but understand that this thread (unlike the cosplay guide thread) was specifically made for people to envision their 'perfect Yennefer'. It's a hot topic right now, so patience is not in the forefront of peoples' minds.

As long as folks are giving feedback in a constructive/productive manner, it should be fine. Hopefully it'll help to see footage at some point since the majority of people posting seem to have some minor or major gripe about the model in the guide. I think her attitude and voice in the game will sell whatever she ends up looking like in the end just as much if not more than how she looks.

I guess that there's no point in me being in this thread then. As I've said before, I'm not a real hardcore or massive fan of the series, I like it yes, but it's just another big game that i'm looking forward to in a sea of stuff. I'm probably going to get some hate for that, but that's just how I am.

plz no guys, I for once dont like *most fan arts with Yen having that perpeptually pissed off look with sharp eyebrowns, masculine nose and short face, they lost most the appeal to me (yes Sorceresses are supposed to be attractive by mean of magic). I'm also very skeptical about how those'll look in animation. I dont think the current model is as bad as everyone made it out to be, the general complaint is that it looks too innocent, too stylized, lack of arrogant, assertive look etc. I'm not even sure how people look for all these features in an animation render with blank expression. And it's definitely no Bioware tier

Just look at the blank face for Geralt in cosplay guide

It was pretty horrible and looks like it should be scraped by the same criteria here, but in the actual gameplay with animations and lighting it's not that bad (It's the SoD model that everyone is voting for)
I could be playing the devil's advocate here since I actually prefer another version of Geralt's face, and I also think this version of Yen needs some improvement.

Just posting this to let CDPR know that there are people who read the books and prefer the current model of Yen to majority of the fan art versions :rebel:

This a very good point, people dont realize that the pictures showed in the cosplay docs are just focusing in the essentials for a cosplayer, that means clothes, materials, accessories, body details, etc. These are not made for presentation purposes, there are a lot of things missing in those renders, first of all the lack of expression which makes a huge difference, also this are pictures, we haven't seen her in motion, the camera angle and focal length are different for the ones used for cutscenes in order to make character and scene look better, the lighting is also a factor. All these things can make a subject or a scene change completely, just keep that in mind guys. Overall i like this design which is not so different from the SoD version if you pay attention, IMO it looks great, it just needs minor tweaks.

I agree with Selfluminous that we may do a 180 when we see Yen in action, but I pose two questions:

- is it possible TW3 has a new art director? It just seems all the models now have a different design philosophy, namely, everyone including Geralt is more attractive. Maybe I'm donning a tinfoil hat here, I dunno.

-will they actually be able to animate Yen's hair? Seems like a tall order.

No hate from me my friend. You have an opinion and no one can say you're wrong, it's just how you feel - same as them. Whether people want to debate points of view or agree with one another is another thing all together. ;)

I like her outfit and the hairstyle. I too think that the face is a bit doll-like judging from the pictures included in the cosplay guide. She did look better in sword of destiny trailer. But, it might be due to the lighting and maybe its a lower poly version or whatever.

Slimgrin I doubt here will be any special animations for polygon hair. But maybe I´ll be surprised!

Of course everyone has his own taste, but I can assure you that Yennefer can indeed look arrogant and imposing like the proper sorceress she is. As with real people, this look mostly comes from the mimics. :)

Good to hear ! :)
I wouldn't have been really at ease to make Geralt romance my 14 year old sister look-alike !...

It's good to know. Many thanks for taking the time to chine in!

That however doesn't address the severest problem, how her face is shaped, something mimics can't help much with. I am going to take the liberty to assume you're acknowledging the shot we got is pretty much how she looks in-game. To me, Yen just isn't nowhere near on the same level as the herbalist, the mobster or even the three witches. And her butt, do let it breathe.

Still, please pass a word of encouragement to the team from me!

I wont judge it based on the Cosplay Guide. Geralt's looks even weirder. Need to see it in action.

Best Yen so far. SOD version looks excellent too, the recent one not so much.

That facial animations and facial posing are crucial factors in how you perceive a character.

She's terrible. This is not the canon, she's not beautiful. Small breasts, masculine face.

Why should she be beutiful?
According to Sapkowski's description, Yennefer is not beutiful.
