The Perfect Yennefer

+
I really think CDPR is going too mainstream with the character faces... I posted some time ago how Ciri is too girlish to be lore friendly, she is supposed to be a tomboy.
Now the same happens to Yenn... although I know sorceress are supposed to be beautiful as the result of all the enchantments they do to themselves, let's not forget that Yenn is a hunchback ugly witch (to say the least)... In fact I recall Jaskier/Dandelion saying something about her looks to Geralt, something about how attractive she was for a "not so pretty" girl.
The image I made based on the books was that of a small (in height) woman with a not so pretty nose, one hell of an attitude... and a nice little butt. It's been some time since I read the books... but that's how I remember her.

I really think the devs have to man up and model the character with charisma and not some faces come up from an anime Skyrim mod (which are great but simply don't suit here)

Didn't Ciri look tomboish when she was younger but as she grew up she started... ehm... developing. It's stated several times that she's qutie beautiful IIRC.

As for Yen, she might need some tweaks here and there but the model isn't exactly that of a perfect beauty, it still has it's flaws, reason why some really dislike her looks. I'm quite happy with the overall design and I'll wait to see her face in motion before I pass final judgement on that.

You just can't please everybody, I guess.

I agree that Ciri is supposed to be beautiful, is achieving the attitude of a tomboy that I'm kind of worried about... I'm afraid she'll end up looking like a model in a muddy leather suit (like we see in blockbuster movies)... instead of a cast out royalty, now a honed warrior...

And you are right, they can't please everybody... it's that approach that fuzzes me, the need to please instead of building character in the game.

As far as I'm concerned I don't want to be eyecandy pleased or be attracted to the characters in some basic sexual way if there's nothing else behind that face, I want to be immersed in they stories and believe want I'm seeing as I did while reading the books.

I disagree. I think they look absolutely fine. Ciri may not be a classic beauty (she isn't either in the game trailers we have seen so far), but there were a lot of people in the books who felt attracted to her. (mistle, galahad, the son of crach an craite and I think there were more) So i guess she is attractive, maybe just not the classic way.
I'm just rereading the books and till now (second book of the ciri saga)Yennefer was called three times "extraordinary beautiful". Two times by ciri and one time by the professor. There is no need to m,ake every female character in a video game ugly or avergae looking. This seems to be the new trend considerng the latest discussion about the potrayal of women in video games, but CD Proect Red should just ignore it and do whatever they think is right.

Yep, I get what you mean... is just that I see Yenn as a charming/attractive woman 'cause of her presence or posture (don't know the exact word) more than simply an extraordinary beautiful woman... I think there's some kind of magic involved in the attraction towards her, not simply her looks... and that's something really hard to emulate on a videogame.
Regarding Ciri, I see her as close to an olympic athlete as it can be. Google Yelena Isinbayeva or Darya Klishina to see what I mean...

Yep. Ciri was quite atractive.

Sapkowski said:
'Yes, Nenneke,' she said. 'There can be no doubt. One just has to look into those green eyes to know
that there is something in her. High forehead, regular arch of the brows, eyes set attractively apart.
Narrow nose. Long fingers. Rare hair pigment. Obvious elven blood, although there is not much of it in
her. An elven great-grandfather or great-grandmother. Have I guessed correctly?'

'You still keep on calling me ugly one! You know how I don't like it. Why do you do it?'
'Because I'm malicious. Wizards are always malicious.'
'But I don't want to . . . don't want to be ugly. I want to be pretty. Really pretty, like you, Lady Yennefer.
Can I, through magic, be as pretty as you one day?'
'You . . . Fortunately you don't have to . . . You don't need magic for it. You don't know how lucky you
are.'
'But I want to be really pretty!'
'You are really pretty. A really pretty ugly one. My pretty little ugly one . .

Also Galahad mistaken Ciri with elven female, Hotsporn (I won't get in to details, because of spoilers, but he was big and determined fan of Ciri... to say the least), Mistle, Hjalmar, Cahir. Besides, since when tomboy is synonym of unattractive woman? Tomboy archetype describe behavior, not attractiveness.

Ciri ingame model is best "graphic translation" of written character, I have ever seen.

Yea I'm fine with the character design too (obviously my comment brings nothing but I want devs to know that).

This. Ciri is perfect (and she's supposed to be attractive). CD Projekt did an outstanding job designing both Yen and Ciri IMO. They look just how I imagined them from the books. I especially like how they make Yen seem badass and threatening yet beautiful at the same time.

My thoughts exactly.
They look like your ordinary game heroines, nothing special, distinguished about them.
They have no character, they don't correspond to the images described by the author.

Yes! This is fantastic. i love how she has a strong, athletic build, like she could whip out a dagger and spill your guts if a spell failed. I think the doe-eyed stare in her cosplay render really threw people off.

Yeah, she looks more Yennefer here than in the previous trailer.

HORAAAAY YEN LOOKS GREAT!! I was really starting to get worried because of the cosplay guide, but she looks really good now!!

I really hope Yen's final in game model will look like the one from the cinematic, she looks just how i imagined her from the books. Also, did you guys noticed something odd in her expresions? she looks confused and even scared sometimes, i wonder if it has something to do with her amnesia.
