The 'rarest' component ?!

For me it was definatly Rebis, always running out of that particular component. Then again I went cheap and skipped alot of the books also was not aware that it would be hard to come by later in the game so just dident bother gathering much.

Hmm dunno, I always had too much rebis from Celandine and Cadaverine. Ginatz acid too. Later on you get wing membrane, beast liver, and han is fairly large quantities.I think Quebrith and Hydragenum are more difficult to get overall, but Vermillion is most difficult early on.

Vermillion is rare in the beginning, so it's difficult to make more advanced stuff. In Act V I ran out of Hydragenum, but next time I was wiser and stockpiled lots of Hydragenum ingredients from Act IV. :)

You can easily get Hydragenum from the caves in the swamp and from wolfs aloe in act 5.Before wing membrance I couldnt find any thing that had both albedo and rebis. It was really hard to do some albedo based potions in the begging.

that is indeed the rarest combination. there is only one rebis and albedo ingredient and it is wing membrane :)there are also quite a few combinations that can only be found in 2 ingredients

Like Hydragenum Albedo- Wolf's Aloe- EctoplasmI know Act V has a lot of Wolf's Aloe scattered in the houses, but it still is never enough for me...

The frequency of Hydragenum/Albedo depends a fair bit on how much grinding you do ...Barghests in act 1 drop Ectoplasm, and those skulls sell for a nice profit, so it's quite possible to collect piles of it then.Wraiths in Raven's crypt act 5 also drop Ectoplasm ..Personally, the only Albedo potion I make is Tawny Owl ('cos i have tawny effect always on), and other potions can be chugged during those 1-hour windows, so the frequency of Albedo is largely an irrelevance.I have more trouble juggling Nigredo ingredients.

I don't use too many potions when against ordinary monsters, but when I go up against a boss, I multi-stack potion-effects for the duration.e.g. Before Koshchey:Full Moon AlbedoMaribor Forest AlbedoShrike AlbedoWolverine AlbedoWolf AlbedoGolden Oriole AlbedoKiss AlbedoTawny Owl AlbedoWillow AlbedoAnd maybe Petri's Philter Albedo(Broken up in 1 hour meditation stints when toxicity too high)Not to mention the Swallow Rubedo just before encountering the Koshchey, and Blizzard Nigredo after Azar dialogue.Of course, with Hard's low potion duration, the number of potions I consume increases, but the usage generally remains the same. For Normal difficulty, one of the above potion "meals" lasts all the way past the Koshchey and Azar, and generally lasts until the house before the Zeugl in Epilogue, ready for another "meal."Thus the need for Rebis Albedo and Hydragenum Albedo components. I WILL grind for the components, but bore easily.Mind you, I'm not saying that there is not enough to finish the game with. Not at all. I also brew stacks more than I need, just for "fun". ;D

But ... the Albedo effect applies to all potions you drink within 1 hour after the first Albedo potion, so you need, at most, 2 potions with Albedo.

Tlazolteotl is right -- there's no need for every potion to have Albedo, as its effects don't stack. The same goes for other two effects. Instead of trying to make every potion an Albedo potion, you should try to make it so that one "potion meal" you use before a difficult fight (consisting of 3-5 potions) covers all three special ingredients (Albedo, Rubedo, Nigredo). The first potion you quaff should always be an Albedo potion, followed by all other potions within an hour after that first potion.

since you are all so interested, this is from the wiki:http://witcher.wikia.com/wiki/Aether_at_a_Glancehttp://witcher.wikia.com/wiki/Hydragenum_at_a_Glancehttp://witcher.wikia.com/wiki/Quebrith_at_a_Glancehttp://witcher.wikia.com/wiki/Rebis_at_a_Glancehttp://witcher.wikia.com/wiki/Vermilion_at_a_Glancehttp://witcher.wikia.com/wiki/Vitriol_at_a_Glanceand http://witcher.wikia.com/wiki/AngleWyrm%27s_Recipes_for_Witchers

Just so you know, I am aware the Albedo effects don't stack. I just make them all albedo so that if I ever want to play around and drink just ONE, I am set for low toxicity. I rarely need the attack boost from Nigredo, and Rubedo I use in conjunction with Swallow for maximum healing.

Fair 'nuff ... I'm just way too lazy to do that. Tawny/Albedo is plenty good enough, especially 'cos I make those in batches of 50.

Fifty? FIFTY?! Wow, you have lots more patience than I do! I can't imagine churning out fifty of the same potion. I'm impressed.

ROFL I dunno, my alchemy sack was pretty bursting by the end. I pretty much basically killed and harvested everything in sight. :D I even stopped when I hit 50 of anything. LOL It got to the point later in the game when I started tossing stuff that didn't have a secondary effect, just to make room. :D

If you are an addictive collector you would say "it's too bad about these single ingredients" because you can waste them on bombs and oils. At least it's that what comes into my mind when I intend to clean my alchemy sack.

I especially like to make the swallow - rubido too. It works wonders for my game. I cannot seem to remember any items that are hard to come by... I do have to throw stuff away now and then to make room for other stuff. I even tried keeping 'spare' potions at the inn, but then I ran into the problem that I couldn't get access to those items in chapter five. that was a waste for me, but I probably did something wrong. My question would be Where do you find enough alcohol to make 50 potions at a time? Even if I harvested every vendor, I couldn't get to fifty- even if money was no object. Did I miss something somewhere? oh...anyone need an extra 200 drowner brains? I have a few to spare...and they're beginning to stink the inn up really bad.reply to PS:I have so many because I like the idea of having the extra for 200 in mad money if I need them, plus, I wasn't paying attention to how many I really had-- they kind of just snuck up on me:)

Maybe 50 in the course of the game, starting in Act 1 and in the end you have stored 50 ;DThe innkeeper will lose his guest if you can't get rid of the drowner brains. Maybe Kalkstein is still interested in them... but why do you keep 200 of them :hmmm:
