The romance options for straight Female and Male V is disappointing [Mild spoilers]

+
Than why she must be locked as lesbian, considering the lack of options for romance in this game? What is the point? She is not a real person, she is NPC in the videogame, so-called "sexuality" doesn't make this (or any) character any deeper in case there is no story related, in case of Cyberpunk straight/gay is just a tag. Besides, Judy triggers on body type only, and this lesbian it pretty fine with tits + dick combo, which makes her locked sexuality even more questionable.

Still don't see why every romanceable character can't be bisexual, there are only 4 of them for fuck sake. It will not ruin roleplay, moreover, it will improve it. In playthrough of one player she can be sweet to female, in playthrough of another - to male. I don't understand how in can ruin the game experience of the first player.

Genitals dont matter in the game so yeah, it's pointless. She still sees you as a woman with a vagina. Also the reason she must be locked as a lesbian is the same reason why Panam is het or River or Kerry is gay. Because they decided so. And because she's lesbian.

What we need is more bi romances for sure, but not to existing characters. She's lesbian.

@Shaamaan

I never said it would excuse the lack of options. On the contrary, I really would enjoy more options for romances, as i wrote in some other thread.

I don't quite understand what you mean with "The friendship could be there with the option given to the player to pursue this relationship further. " Pursue it in a friendship direction or to "convince" her to a relationship? Because that would be really awkward. You don't change somebodys sexual orientation just by spending some nice time together.

Regarding the friendship thing, I also felt a bit disappointed, when my V told her about the whole Relic thing and Panam would just answer something like: "I don't know what to say, uff, that's much to chew about..." Like c'mon, I were there for her whole nomad/ identity/ city vs. tribe problems and she doesn't even want to talk a bit about my near death.

all this marketing for judy and having fans fall in love with her just to have them cockblocked because she only prefers females
I didnt know she was pure lesbian until the "don't go there, dude"
Cockblocking indeed :D

No sane person would date Kerry.

No insane either.

Johnny even makes jokes like that.
Just because he is an 80 y.o. queer with the anus that bleached that he looks on his 20's?

Yeah the options are pretty abysmal and limited, especially when you consider how many viable options there are, like Rachel and Claire. Like hell yeah, I would have much rather romanced them over Judy, Kerry, or River. Claire and Rachel already had pretty good groundwork as options; they both have memorable quests, they both have engaging dialogue, and interesting personalities. CDPR could've easily weaved a romance arch for these two at least.

what annoys me a bit (might be just my interpretation) is that the romance options that are tied closer to the main story (Panam and Judy) are catering mostly to straight male players. Those who play as straight guys and want to romance a woman and those who play as a woman and enjoy playing a lesbian romance. Of course, there are also lesbians who enjoy the female//Judy romance, but I can't help but feel that the majority of players who will chose these options are male.
Whereas if you are a woman or gay man, your romance options are limited to characters who you don't even necessarily have to meet in the main storyline and who have no influence on the shitty endings.
Many people see the Nomads ending as the best outcome, because they can coast of into the sunset with Panam or Judy and have a slightly more explicitely stated hope that there might be a cure. But Kerry and River both break up with you in this scenario! And in the Crystal Palace ending, V also behaves really weirdly towards them (at least to Kerry, not sure about River).

I'm not necessarily dissatisfied with the characters you can romance, I think both Kerry and River are terrific and interesting, but their arcs are simply too short and they feel like they were not as important to the writers as the two women.

What about Lizzy Wizzy? Cyberpsicho sex, sparks flying (literally)

There is something very very seriously wrong feeling about the Kerry Eurodyne romance option...

Ok so:

I think it's *relatively* safe to assume that V and the other romance options all seem to be in their 20s-30s roughly..

We can also fairly safely assume that aging has *not* been halted since there are *old looking* people in the game. (Edit: "Doll" makeovers a sort-of exception)
- Saburo Arasaka looks ancient, and he could definitely afford any other treatments, and would likely not be pursuing the biochip immortality so hard if he had other options.
- Mamma Welles looks aged, even if it has been gracefully.
- Rogue clearly aged well, but still clearly aged.
- Takemura Goro also looks aged, while still being younger that Saburo, and he's probably had some of the more extreme and expensive implants, given his job, of almost anyone we meet while still looking so human.

Now, Kerry Eurodyne is at least 70 - more according to Lore, but he would need to be under 16 in the memories of 2023 to be less than 70 by 2077 - and he does not look like that young of a teen in 2023.

So, at 70+ years of age, he still has normal skin, and not the very noticeable Doll style makeover, but except for perhaps the hair (hard to say if that's truly grey hair or just a style choice) he barely looks any older.

So not only is the only Gay Male option likely to be at least twice V's age, there's some really shady sh*t going on there...
Even just the age thing makes some disturbing implications, but the rest just makes me want to shoot the guy in the face and burn down his estate and anyone that's still in it. (Edit: and the likelihood that he's only interacting with you because of Johnny... just makes it all worse).

I'm surprised people are complaining about straight male romances. As a straight female who got lumped with River - I'd love to be able to romance Panam. Next to Johnny, she has the best relationship with V arc in the game.

River's arc is two quests - then he's implying he wants to settle down with you. Talk about going from 0 to 100. Its like CDPR figured straight women = marriage and babies. The whole 'romance' scene with him was so cringe (IMO) I will be avoiding that quest until there is a way to friendzone him.

Judy has a decent arc too - but I don't know. I think so much of it is tied up in Evelyn and her ex's that it just doesn't feel...right? romancing her. And Kerry - well. Less said the better.

Yeah, was disappointed with that too. I can't say that romance options are incredibly important for me in games in general, I hadn't care much about this in Witcher series, since there were a lot of things to do other than communicating with Triss and Yennifer, but in Cyberpunk, romances questlines are actually ONLY decent questlines except for the main story. 90% of other activities are useless and boring grinding through gigs. There are a lot of topics related to romancable characters, because there not much else to discuss in this game, romances are obviously in focus for the game itself.
And that makes me really sad. River and Kerry are both miles behind Judy and Panam. They are good and charismatic characters but clearly they don't have the same amount of game time, not even close. C'mon, CDPR.

I don't know what they were thinking, when they designed River. His romance is the worst, compared to the others. I'm not into girls, so I'm Single until my Corpo girl can follow Goro to Japan after the Arasaka ending. I still has hope. It wouldn't be a problem to make this a condition if you want to romance him.

Now lets see what my options are, regardless of gender:

- Judy. She is a netrunner composing BD porn. Hell yeah. But she doesn't like doing that and wants to help others and then move to the country to live out her farmgirl fantasy. Wouldn't even help me survive my last 6 months searching for a cure before moving to greener fields. Meh.

-River. He is one of the good cops left in this big bad City that no one else seems to survive morally unchallenged. Hell yeah. As soon as we bond he decides to move to the country side, to help his broken trailer trash family and invites me to do the same. Urgh, meh. One grilling is ok, but I will never set my foot again in this trash heap until drunked out of my mind.

- Panam. She is a hard ass mercenary and smuggler. Hell yeah. But she is constantly bickering about her trashy family and friends who wouldn't stick their neck out for her when it counts. I tried to convince her to leave them behing but no. In the end, she just wants to live the low life in the countryside aka badlands, among the trashiest people who besides being adults, need her constant babysitting. Yeah, very inviting.

See that? 3 out of romances dream about being trailer trash and living the dirty hobo life together with emotionally scarred and effed up people who you must constantly babysit. Wow, that was surely my fantasy entering a game set in 2077 named Cyberpunk.

- Kerry. He just wants to fuck and then sell out to some female N-Sync Band to gethis name on the newsfeed again, sucking corporate cock all the way.

I just want to be the most basic character in the setting of cyberpunk. A full blown solo, a merc, who enjoys being on the edge all the time and lives a "devil may care" life. That is like being the lawfull-good warrior in a fantasy game like Neverwinter Nights or Dragon Age. It is THE MOST iconic lifepath for the setting. There is NO ROMANCE for such a character in this game.
Your lover wants to live like a coward with crying hobos or he wants to sell out to little girls for fame and money. V is called a mercenary all the time. Where is the romance that wants to live this live WITH her. I don't even care if gay or not, if the romance is crafted well.

I wouldn't have put it this harshly since Nomads are pretty proactive and have a lot of tech, but I agree with the general sentiment. It's like the game is trying to send you towards some sort of "default" path with the LIs and towards the end, after allowing you to RP V in different ways. NC is toxic but there are ways to survive in it, that's the point of different lifepaths.

If your V wants to remain in NC despite its issues and continue the merc path (without necessarily being blinded by glory) or cooperate with corps, it's easy to feel disconnected from the other characters in terms of ultimate goals. Outside of Goro and Johnny, who aren't LIs. Or possibly Meredith, who's a minor character.

And V does a lot for the LIs (who they only recently met) compared to the other way around while actively dying and short on time, so it's easy to end up feeling like a babysitter. Panam is better in this regard, you can see that she cares about V and is willing to stick her neck out for them regardless of being romanced.
