The Royal Dynasty

So since the royal dynasty of the northern king's is not quite clear this is mostly speculations, There are some heavy spoilers ahead so If you didn't finish the game on both paths better stop now.

So I thought about the situations with King Henselt, Demavend and Foltest.

Starting with Henselt, He can be killed during the war in Vergen by Roche, But If he's killed... Who's the one to take his place? I know he has a son from a woman who's her name is not knowen, But is their son a bastard?

As for Foltest, I know the situation can be resolved with the "gracious" help of King Radovid, Also I thought If you kill Aryan, Louisa La Valette surrenders to torture and makes a confession that the chil's Anais and Boussy are the fruit of Incest. I'll quote the confession I don't find it on Wikia:

"I, Louisa La Valette,
Do solemnly swear that my children,

Anais and Boussy, are the offspring
of my eldest son, Aryan,
who did sire them
through Incestuous union with me.

Mary Louisa La Valette"

Doesn't that confession make those two Children's incapable of siting on the throne? I can certainly see many people using this, Especially the Nilfgaardians.

And what about Foltest's family? Does anyone know more about his family tree? I know he had a sister Adda, But she's long dead by now, Doesn't he have any brothers that want to claim the throne? I mean who knows what his father Medell did.

And as for Demavend I'm not entirely sure about him, Since not much is known about him, There's also the matter of Prince Stennis.

I really want to hear CDPR opinion about this and maybe clear it up a little... I didn't found much info on The Royal Dynasty in the books but who's to say they do not exist?

There is mentioned in Blood of Elves that Henselt has rightful son. However, there is no information what is his name.

It's not clear if you haven't read the books unfortunatly.
But, we have a wonderful and well-done resource for it: http://witcher.wikia.com/wiki/Foltest see at the bottom of the page for the lineage.

We don't know, I'm afraid we have to wait until W3 to know who will rule Kaedwen.
Anyway, since HEnselt has no legit heir, it is higly possible that just like in Temeria, Kaedwen will be rule by a regency council. There was something similar in Redania, after the death of Vizimir II. http://witcher.wikia.com/wiki/Regency_Council

Yes, but this mostly depend on what you chose while playing the game: Aryan dead or alive makes the difference.

Anyway, in the game it is supposed that even if Anais and Boussy are bastard, they are the only only who may rule Temeria. But again, we have to wait until W3 to know how thing will go on, becoz it is higly possible (even if not specified in the game) that Temerian nobles will not surrender to the fact that an bastard child will rule the kingdom. And thus there will be the civil war, with two factions: Constable Natalis and the royal bastard against the nobles (possibily supported by Redania or Kaedwen - again it mostly dpend on what you chose while playing the game - Henselt dead\alive and Anais to Radovid\Natalis make the difference).

And what about Foltest's family? Does anyone know more about his family tree? I know he had a sister Adda, But she's long dead by now, Doesn't he have any brothers that want to claim the throne? I mean who knows what his father Medell did.

I've already linked to you the lineage of Temeria. :)
Foltest's sister died years ago before W1 story. And afaik Foltest has no brothers. So, the only possible heirs are Anais and Boussy (even if Adda the White is still alive apparently).

And as for Demavend I'm not entirely sure about him, Since not much is known about him, There's also the matter of Prince Stennis.

You're right about this, but once more, we have to wait until W3. My speculations about this is that Nilfgaard will conquer and rule Aedirn. (depending on your choice in the game) Maybe only the Lormark will stand free against the empire. My two cents of course.

In a few words: chaos in the Northern Kingdoms LOL

I really want to hear CDPR opinion about this and maybe clear it up a little... I didn't found much info on The Royal Dynasty in the books but who's to say they do not exist?

Well that would be hard, coz CDP screenwriters commonly do not read the forum. But, look at the bright side: you have our opinions and our lore about Witcher World :)

If you only read The Last Wish and Blood of Elves, you won't find many details info. You need to read the entire saga at least.

I finished Times Of Contempt not too long ago, I know about the regency council.

Well, I know this page on Wikia too, That's his family tree but now they are all dead and They're no use to the kingdom dead. I mean If he does have someone else in his family we don't know about no one but maybe Radovid / Henselt could deny him the throne.

The Civil war over the children is definetly a possibility, I read the Redanias didn't like the fact of being ruled by a kid [Radovid]

The fact about Hensalt royal heir is interesting, Though I don't remember it mentioned in Blood Of Elves. So there must be a queen too, Right?

Like I said not much is knowen to us to this thread is mostly speculations based on things that happened in the books.

Ehh.. I didn't know the screenwriters don't read this forum, I thought Adam Badowski read this forum?
Also, I think I explained myself wrong, I don't only care for CDPR comments, All comments and info is more than acceptable.

Regarding Henselt, whatever the status at the end of the books, we're told in-game that his son was killed at some point in the last three years in a hunting accident. So no heirs.

Anything can happen in an interregnum, especially when the plausible heirs (Anais, Boussy if he's alive) have backing no stronger than the ambitious nobles. Power trumps law in this situation, so the throne is outright up for grabs, and we have:

Kimbolt and Maravel, who have already made their intentions known.

Anais, whether as the protege of Radovid, or as the ward of John Natalis or of the outlaw Vernon Roche.

Boussy if he's alive, and/or any number of Boussy-pretenders whether or not he's alive.

Aryan LaValette, if he's alive and can muster support after the thrashing the LaValettes took.

Some catspaw backed by Nilfgaard in the name of the Baroness LaValette. This might be Boussy or a pretender. However much Aryan loves his mother, he's a hardheaded SOB, and I don't see him selling out to Nilfgaard even for her.

I'm assuming that neither John Natalis nor Adda if she's alive will pursue a candidacy. John Natalis doesn't want it, and Adda would be mightily unwelcome even if she were able.

Whoever wins will simply force the Regency Council to ratify an act legitimizing his (or her) crown.

Adda would be unwelcome, but Radovid presumably married her in the hope of getting Temeria, and does try to use it in his message to Henselt on Roche path, so he may still try this approach if he doesn't contol Anais.

Well I mostly think that the story has been set for Adda=dead, period. Even if Adda can actually be still alive, if you imported a savegame. I think this is most an incongruency or maybe there is something that it is not said, like Radovid makes Adda be murdered... possibly either becoz she ashames him for her nature, or becoz he is afraid of having children with her - say they all birth as striga, yuck - or becoz he sees her as an obstacle in ruling Temeria on his desire. In fact a little girl like Anais could be more "playble" in the hand of Redania.

About Boussy: as far as I understood, the boy got killed so Anais only may be the queen. I'd also like to know the circumstances of the murder. I wonder if it was like for Louis Charles, son of Marie Antoinette.

If you import with Adda alive, in Chapter 2, just before the Serrit/Auckes incident, the messenger from Radovid to Henselt says that Radovid is laying claim to Temeria in Adda's name, and would like Henselt's support. Henselt refuses, of course, and tries to get Geralt to say that Adda wouldn't be a suitable queen (Geralt doesn't necessarily comply). By the time you have your meeting with Radovid, he's already decided that Anais would be a better choice, although he does say several times that one reason he wants Anais is so that she can be with her sister. But he may go back to pushing Adda's claim if he fails to get control of Anais.

With Boussy, it's not certain that he really is dead (the source of the information is unreliable). It's possible that Nilfgaard is still holding him. Claiming that he was dead would have made Anais more valuable as barter with Henselt (or Radovid), so they would have had a good reason to lie about it, and neither Henselt nor Radovid would have inquired too deeply into it as it would suit them too. Keeping Boussy alive would be useful leverage for Nilfgaard in the future against Anais or her protector, or against the Temerian nobles generally.

Just having a quick read through the journal and Dandelions entry for Boussy LaValette is interesting, it goes something like this: At the time Boussy LaValette was a mere lad yadda yadda yadda. Gives off a definite air of Foltests heir having at the time of Dandelions writing been older, I don't think we're done with him yet.

Oh I see. I totally missed\forgot this part. I had the chance to play an imported savegame just once. Then my pc screwed up and I had to reinstall Xp from the beginning. That's why I lost all my w1 savegames

I think I'll take advatange of those uploaded savegames to check this thing myself. Thanks a lot for reminding.

Well about Boussy, I've checked the Wiki journal entry. Here it is:
Witcher Wiki said:
The boy had died in mysterious circumstances, but the significance of this event was clear. Of Baroness La Valette's and King Foltest's two children, only Anais remained alive – a young girl born out of wedlock, the sole and highly problematic heir to the Temerian throne.

In fact in the game it's never said that Boussy is dead, just in the journal. But I don't, I agree with you when you said that the boy could be used by the Empire.
Hm.... sad to say that we need to wait until W3 to know the consequences (or maybe an expansion?... plz CDP...)

Whether or not Boussy is dead, we should expect to see at least one pretender claiming to be Boussy. It reminds me of the "Lost Dauphin" (Louis-Charles, son of Louis XVI), who may or may not have died in captivity (recent DNA evidence has it that he did), but spawned hundreds of pretenders.

It is said (I'm going to have to take note of the specifics on my next playthrough. But Radovid's messenger and the meeting with Radovid are the two sources). However, the information came from the Nilfgaardians, and Geralt and Roche themselves are suspicious of it.

I'm very hopeful that this will come up later. I think it's one of the reasons why the Aryan decision is described by CDPR as one of those making up the 16 endings, and I think it's the reason why it's been deliberately left fuzzy. CDPR have been pretty good at story-telling so far :)

Oh yea, just like I was saying. I soon remembered of him as soon as I read about Boussy's death :)

Any time the Lost Dauphin comes up, it reminds me of the Duke and Dolphin in Huckleberry Finn (two rather disturbing con artists, not unlike the bogus Dauphins who infested early 19th C. Europe). Not all "lost Boussys" have to be pretenders for the crown; they can find more lucrative prey among the widows and orphans of the war.
