The Sad Story of the Grossbart Brothers bug

Quest fails if the guy you help dies. If you kill all 3 brothers the quest fails. Is this a bug? Tried a couple of times....waiting for the guy to attack first then help him, but doesn't seem to matter

Tried again standing beside the guy and throwing bombs at the guys and shooting arrows and the quest finished properly.....

I've had the same issue twice. I'll try doing what you said and standing next to him.

Follow up: I loaded to a previous save and tried again and it worked. I'm level 23 and the recommended level for the quest is 26. I got 22 exp and 50 crowns as a reward. The exp seems kind of low... but maybe that's just me.

I went into that cave at lvl15 because of one of the treasure hunt quests (that was lvl16), I stumble into this quest and saw they were lvl 26 and ran out.

Later it popped up quest failed, guess he tried alone and died

Had the same problem, but found a solution that worked for me.

What I did was: kill two of the Grossbart brothers and leave the third one half dead. Then moved about, just dodging and defending attaks, as to let the Hunter dude finish him off. Quest completed.

This quest is bugged.. I chose "not interested" when he asked me to join him. I scoured the map for loot and then when I got there, he was getting attacked by the 3 guys..I was too late and he got killed. Now I have to find an earlier save..

edit: after trying Imortal's solution, it did not work for me and the quest doesn't update. This is because I chose "not interested" to his offer. You have to join him and only then will the quest complete.
