A little story I posted earlier thought it describes CP2077 very good:

I can put a simple story about this here where my friend of Germany came visit me in Austria. As we are best friends we don't see us often since he lives in a different country. So when he visits we always make a day where we meet and eat, train and play pc together.

He also got to work in a IT Software firm and don't have much time so he asked me how I liked CP2077 as I was so hyped and he made a Instance on his server farm that I can play it on Ultra.

I told him "feel free to roam around and see for yourself"

He started act 2 with a netrunner and went around on sight seeing. Surely he said that the graphics are looking awesome and was looking at the npc and tried to figure out the controls on the game pad. After some time he asked me if he could buy something. I said feel free to try. He didn't get it after he realized that every food shop turned him down and didn't serve him. He raged a little and started shooting people until the Popo arrived. He killed some turned around and got shoot. He raged more and asked how they arrived that soon and if they "drop pod" landed somehow. So he reloaded and tried again. Same result. I informed him that they spawn in the "dead side" of the player so he runned two to three corners and the stars vanishes.

He asked me what game designer make such choices to implement that in a year 2020 game. I laughed.

So he tried to continue to ask me where the fun district in this game is with casinos or shady clubs. I advised him to go to "little China" or some Asian district as there is a sex shop and some clubs. I marked it for him on the map and he went of.

When he reached it he was some time stunned until he saw the "dancers" in the glass view.

"well they are fully covered like in business clothes, how come?"

I I formed him that the adult content was watered down for the bigger audience. He didn't believe me and looked now eager to find a hooker or less dressed people in a club or so. He could only find some with tapes around the nipples. He was visually pissed and confused.

"But they advertised it to be breathtaking and 18 plus"

I informed him that it seems that that is different what we understand In our countries as 18 plus is like all in. Also that there are no drugs or animations for drinking and smoking.

He played a little around found some guys he watched doing the same things on and on.

After 4 hours he laid the controller down and said "well happily I didn't bought this game. I think I wouldn't have much fun with it."

I informed him about the cut content and the other scrapped things and he was shocked. He felt sad for me that I bought it. HE FELT SAD FOR ME.

I think this describes it good.

We start playing afterwards BG3 together as it was my Xmas gift for him and even in EA we had so much fun. Even the Npcs reacted different on race and profession and got different lines. We also managed to get some slight different outcomes and even when the story also progress linear because they want you to come to the same choking point... It didn't feel like it. He laughed and said.. Look I can sit, lay down eat and did always compare it in a funny way to CP2077.

We were stunned as a EA Game with only act 1 was by far more enjoyable and immersiv than CP2077.

Bottom line is, I understand that people want them to succeed but they screwed it up. Maybe getting a celebrity wasn't the best idea as the game shown 2018 would be more enjoyable as the result and Endgame we got now. Even some person which hasn't followed the hype as much as I did and didn't have the time to gather the information about this game, thinks the way how it got implemented, isn't or shouldn't be the nowadays standard. It feels like it would be awesome 10 years ago.

Thank you for reading until the end.

Sincerely Mario.

Bottom Line Edit:

As for someone who wasn't hyped and plays around 18 years of pc games, he was making fun of the systems they implemented because they would be fitting for a game 10 years ago. Also that he felt sad for me was hilarious.

I hope they will iron things out with some patches in 1 to 2 years. Maybe free DLC will bring back some content and replay abilities.
