Which language do you use for your OS? Try installing a language package for the game from CDPR

I know that this issue can be caused without selecting a proper language in the steam version, but I´m not sure how to handle this for the boxed retail version of the game. Pretty curious to know how to fix that ^^

Yup, just checked and The version is 1.5.0.304.

This is with no update done at all ?

@warlegend. Thank you for the suggestion. yes, I also curious about this bug. Checked my OS language installed in MCD, The result is Locale 0409 which is US-English.

@Tommy. No, I got this version after install form the dvd. I think the seller download the game, update it and burn it into DVD before send to me.

I read some articles that mention about registry if the game installed in the program files, maybe that the cause of the issue? because everytime i click on the icon ( shortcut launcher.exe) in the desktop, the user account control always pop up to confirm it.

i play deeper to the game and i find text finally. But there is No voice, and 2 languanges used in the game ( english for some detail/tutorial and Polish for name, subtitles and details ). I cannot see the stats of weapon also. And there is no Voice sound when the dialogue happen ( But other sound surrounding is there ) Omg, its so confusing. Here is the sequence:

You can try adding additional languages and voiceovers
http://thewitcher.com/witcher1/ and click the updates tab . You will not need any patches .

just install upgrade and english languange pack. Everything is normal now, text appear and dialogue sounds too..Thank you Tommy and warlegend, you are legends
