aye in fact between Triss and Yen the one who is truly power hungry throughout, is Yen.
Both Yen and Triss like the "high society" lifestyle and luxuries, but Yen genuinely craves power, and not just political, but magical too.

Triss on the other hand, all the power she does seek or even gives up, is always in serving of her ideals, mainly to help mages and non-humans have a chance at a better life.

Euhm, that's not true at all. Where did you get this idea from?

The only thing Yen cared about in terms of "power" was find an ability to restore her fertility. And she even gave up on that when Ciri entered her life.

Also, explain to me how Triss joining the Lodge and helping them with their conspiracies "serves her ideals".

You really need to read the books friend, cause you have no idea what you're talking about. Yen is in politics because she's good at it. Triss is in politics because she enjoys power and being able to change the world "for the better".

Assuming you are talking about the books i've heard from people who've read them that Triss is the one who wants to use Ciri to get more power for the Lodge and not Yen.

The Lodge itself wants to use Ciri to get power for themselves, Triss is complicit because she believes the Lodge is the way to pursue her ideals (better world for mages/nonhumans).
I guess the real issue isn't if either of them are "power-hungry" but the what they want it for.

Triss thought that Lodge is good for Ciri, that she will get education there and purpose and so on. Earlier Triss very much were trusted in Lodge, but not anymore.

quick example? the very first time she met Geralt... Genie...
she wanted the genie to get his power.
She had general ambition, her mage upbringing and all, more often than not the "worse" things she done, she done for personal selfish ambitions (like wanting to murder dragons to cure her infertility), she tones down on it as the relationship with Geralt change her.

You really need to read the books before you start talking about them because what you say is completely false.

Yen wanted to tame the djinn not for power but to use the djinn to restore her fertility, which ultimately failed.

Yen had no more general ambition than Triss. Yen simply got shoehorned into politics for the most part because she was so good at it. Yen didn't even want to join the Lodge at first, while Triss on the other hand jumped at the first opportunity she got to join the Lodge.

That's a topic for more Triss and not for who's best or better or good.

Again i haven't read the book i only have a small idea on whats happening in them
Books:Yen wants some things but for personal reasons not power oriented ones while Triss kind of wants them to get more power for the Lodge and rule a small part of the North as a independent kingdom(if i remember correctly, don't judge me:) )
Games:I wouldn't characterise either of them as power hungry, Yen thinks that the ends justify the means while Triss is more into luxury but still not power hungry.

while this is a interesting read to have ..this thread is not to debate the finer points of the story and game books vs game etc. its about content for TRISS. could we keep it civil and focus on the topic please!!

I think I agree with that in retrospect, Its not like the Lodge isn't political and Triss wants it to be powerful as much as Yen wants to be political aswell.
Thinking with this fresh perspective I would say neither is power hungry really, they just have goals and motivations and they see power they pursue as means to achieve them.

If they do that then I hope they'll do a Yen DLC as well.

More Triss and Yen content would always make me happy. I'm sure everyone would agree with that.

And maybe a bit more Lambert and Eskel as well. I felt those two characters didn't get enough screentime either. Especially Eskel. I know he doesn't seem like the most interesting character but truth be told I thought the same about Lambert until I did his side-quest.

I think Eskel and Lambert are great characters with great potential. The quest where they all get drunk and put on pieces of Yen's outfit has proven that. We need more of that good stuff in TW3.

I agree. The disappearment of eskel and lambert was weird.

And I would love to see more about them.

Also I would love to see new Yen content to make her personality more reasonable.

Dont have to talk about Triss cuz I love her the most :) still voting for the idea of the Rose coming back alive at the lighthouse..

I just dont hope all those dlcs are about gwent cards and 5 minute quests. The deep story telling is awesome and I would really appreciate that for Triss and Yen and the other old friends and witchers.

A quick side note/question, how come when you romance Triss, Yennefer isn't even mentioned in the epilogue? Like she fell off the face of the earth or something. All we hear Geralt say when he talks to the Emperor is that "she's decided to stay in the North". Even though I didn't choose her, I would still like to know where she goes after all is said and done.

Thats all he says if you DID choose Yen...just seems like they chose to go ROMANCE=NEUTRAL after you find Uma and the rest of the way...

Here I am adding myself to the ranks of those that want more Triss :)

It's a strange decision from my side, because I usually go for the women that have a personality similar to Yen's (for example I chosen Miranda in Mass Effect trilogy) and I don't like redheads, but I just loved the romance mission with Triss. I blame this on the way Yen behaves (emasculating Gerald, always stirring up a fight and just too much bitterness overall for my taste). Even though Yen get's more screentime than Triss, the quality of the time spent with Triss is much better.

Anyway, I too felt that the romance side of the game was just not exploited enough. The first post of the thread mirrors my feelings exactly. I also found that the end was very unfulfilling. I mean a 15 seconds drawing showing Geralt and Triss (or Yen) is basically nothing. I would've expected at least a long cutscene or CGI video that shows them two living their dream. I mean come on devs, our heroes went through hell for years, we nurtured their love and enabled their dreams, we deserve more attention on this.

Please .

I wouldn't put my hopes on the 16 upcoming free DLCs. If we get more Triss/Yen/Lambert/Eskel content I'd put my bets on the 2 announced expansion packs or perhaps (paid) DLC after the 2 expansion packs.

Wasn't here for some days and really happy to see this thread still being quite active.

I think at this point, the devs did notice this and probably discussing if the want to change something and bring on more Triss or not. Hopefully the first to be true

well they kinda gave lambert a storyline off with keira metz in all my play throughs
eskel kinda just disappeared
don't know if can agree yen needs a better personality or a more reasonable personality .. we all love different types of ppl and yen is well yen and if you steer geralt to wards her then you get what you get:)
which is why i do hope for more of a decent TRISS love story because it gives you the opportunity to steer geralt in another direction towards TRISS .. a better choice who knows but i would love content that would really let me know for sure!! TRISS STILL ROCKS:) lol
as for more yen content im not against the idea ( as long as if i picked her as my love interest ) because once i got to understand yen and her motives i liked her more than i did at first BUT with so much yen content already i would prefer for them to pick up the slack given to TRISS first before they based any more content on yen!!

I didn't like Triss in the 1st game. I didn't like waking up to her in the 2nd game. I still haven't forgiven Letho for dragging her out of that Nilfgaardiandungeon. Now here she is again in the 3rd game wanting more.
I don't know who Geralt would chose. If he wants to be so indecisive I'm gonna ignore both and fool around with other women.

I'm not utterly opposed to yen getting more content alongside Triss, but since Yen has already got far better treatment than Triss that's not anywhere near as important as Triss as Triss getting something to make up for the very sub-par treatment post Novigrad.

Yes, after Novigrad Triss is pushed on a background.
