I think we shouldn't literally hate Yen for her personality. I think there will be reasons for that. At least in the books. She said "You believe Yennefer will stop treating you like a dog someday, but I don't laugh". Everyone see their relationship as shitty. The relationship is not equal one partner (Yen) has a superiority complex.
With Triss and Geralt Triss adores Geralt and would do anything for him. Throughout the game Yen won't even get her feet wet or hands dirty. All she does is bark commands from the rear.
Yeah I know how the book goes but in this RPG I cannot follow the book because I don't feelYen and Geralt belong. Just because the book bis like that it ddoesn't mean I have to follow.
Triss all the way. At least she shows her emotions good and bad, and as a character she is not afraid to bear her feeling out into the open for Geralt to see.
I agree, some people on the forum act like romance is just pure fanservice, but that is most obviously not the case, romance is what connects not just us to our character but for our character to connect with other characters. I mean CDPR claimed that sex is the quickest and most effective way to show how two characters feel about each other, and think about in the W2, when Triss was kidnapped, i don't think as many people would have gone to save her if she wasn't a love interest. I mean if Yen wasn't a love interest in this game, then she would just be a female character with the cliche tough and doesn't take shit attitude. Relationship building is a vital part of a character who already has such a rich backstory and it is a way for us to see how he cares for others (especially in regards to Triss and Yen). CDPR really needed to spend a bit more time in the relationship department.Exactly, what a pity CDPR underestimated how effective the romance content is as a bridge to connect with players and their Geralt.
All the more reason for them to be togetherAnd Geralt would do anything for Triss too![]()
Yeah, there is. Her true wish is to have a child, so she willing do anything for it slay a Djinn or kill a golden dragon. And in books her sarcasm is also so heavy like in game. Wen in her life comes Ciri she becomes a bit soft. But I still didn't liked her in books as a LI for Geralt. She is gorgeous, hot and very interesting person, but imo she is not for Geralt.I think there will be reasons for that. At least in the books.
On the contrary my fellow Triss fan I really don't hate Yen, like you I don't think she was introduce properly it is very possible that if the playing field in the game was even I wouldn't mind giving Yen a try.I think we shouldn't literally hate Yen for her personality. I think there will be reasons for that. At least in the books.
Sometimes it feels like she acts without thinking while Triss always has a plan.
But for me I just dont like how they introduced her. Yen's sarcasm should be more in a way that you wont take everything she says serious. Her sarcasm is a bit heavy in my eyes. Some of her dialogues sounds too serious when it actually should be positive sarcasm.
While Triss has this "sarcasm" with a smile. So you know what she actually wants to tell you.
It may be more to her being seen as 'competition' to Triss, i like her personality but more as a friend because i just don't understand how Geralt can deal with it, i mean eventually you would tire of it whether Yen is like that or if it just for show. I just don't believe in opposite's attracting even if the game suggests that is the case. Though you're right, hating Yen doesn't feel right because you could say her personality is unique and it adds to making her character her believable.I think we shouldn't literally hate Yen for her personality. I think there will be reasons for that. At least in the books.
That particulary annoys me. Yen got specific scenes, Triss got some re used assets from standard sex scenes. But Triss scene was just a default sex animation with a plus and with Yen was something very unique both scenes
That's the first thing that bugged me so much. After I did the romance scene with Triss, after a while I went to one of those places and picked a girl then realized the exact similarities which almost disgusted me.That particulary annoys me. Yen got specific scenes, Triss got some re used assets from standard sex scenes.
That is just lazy in my opinion
Yeah maybe CDPR were worried about their expanding fanbase and though they had to cut back a bit on the sex scenes, even if the Triss scene was reused for a bit, the Yen scenes weren't that great either, i think they only last a few seconds. It is more to do with the dialogue before and after the scene that is 'unique', plus i could still argue that the scenes with Triss (the party, the fountain scenes etc) were handled better than Yen's scenes but that's just my view. That particulary annoys me. I don't care much about the sex scene, just more flirt conversation between them is good enough, just like the one at the fountainYeah maybe CDPR were worried about their expanding fanbase and though they had to cut back a bit on the sex scenes, even if the Triss scene was reused for a bit, the Yen scenes weren't that great either, i think they only last a few seconds. Cerys comments on it as well when you do the possession quest in Skellige. Something along the lines of you being whipped. Even if you tell her you're not she still brings it up. At first I thought she was jealous but I think people in Skellige really don't like Yen.. I guess because she doesn't follow their culture and what not. There are few people who even acknowledge Triss. There's Sigi, and Priscilla makes a quick comment on it after her song saying something like " or should I say sorceresses" . And the Witcher boys... Is there anyone else? It makes romancing her really hard if you don't wait until after Ugly Baby...She said "You believe Yennefer will stop treating you like a dog someday, but I don't laugh". Everyone see their relationship as shitty. The relationship is not equal one partner (Yen) has a superiority complex.
I agree with you, both sex scenes were pretty undertoned. It doesnt feel they put same effort like into the W2 sex sceneYeah maybe CDPR were worried about their expanding fanbase and though they had to cut back a bit on the sex scenes, even if the Triss scene was reused for a bit, the Yen scenes weren't that great either, i think they only last a few seconds. Well wait for the expansions. I guess there will be more to come.I agree with you, both sex scenes were pretty undertoned. It doesnt feel they put same effort like into the W2 sex scene
We are talking about the sex scenes because the "feelings" scenes were lacking, obviously. If that stuff would have been done properly, no one would have gave a damn about the sex scenesWell wait for the expansions. I guess there will be more to come.
I dont think that 2 second sexytime is all we saw.
But also this game is not a porn. I think it should be a longer intense scene with feelings like at the fountain.
The trick is to connect the story with the open World. And CD is the first Company for me that handeled it very well so far. Also this is an open world RPG and when a rpg game is open world that generally means (not always but still the majority) that the story and character interactions are not as prevalent while a more linear rpg tends to focus more on story and characters. That may be the reason people prefer the story of the W2 to this game, but prefer the gameplay to the Witcher 2. I mean in the Witcher 2, Triss was around for most of the time and even when she wasn't she was still a major part of the storyline, while in this game, she only gets a few mentions in the first 20-30 hours (assuming you did the Velen quests before Novigrad), then by the end, she didn't get much more content than in the Witcher 2 despite this game being 5-6 times longer (possibly more), so for a company like CDPR with only a few hundred employees at most, creating a story driven open world rpg was always going to be a difficult challenge and some things were always going to suffer like character interaction. Still this is what dlc was made for!.
