The Triss content and the inconsistency of our romance's choice

Glorious. But was more political, so it got more heated yet less infuriating.

As a Yen fan I want more stuff for Triss too (and for Yen too to be fair, but currently Triss has too little).

I don't agree. Additional voiced content by expansion would be far more than window dressing. Yes it wouldn't be the ideal fix which would fix issues with the core game arc but it would be vastly different to a reskin hairstyle/dress etc, adding depth to the content.

An example would be say a mission to rescue a Kovir amabassador being held prisoner in Oxenfurt/Toussaint. It would have a vague tie with her larger arc and provide additional romantic content via dialogue.

What I am saying is, it could be a 100 hour quest line with Triss by your side the entire way and the moment its done you go to Skelliga and you get "Well?"...for that it made zero difference to the overall story or the inconsistencies in it. Its putting lipstick on a pig...sure, its nice to have but in the end, its still just a pig.

But, more importantly...sure I would buy it...more is better than none BUT, it is not a fix. Its a band aid on a broken arm...

This point had been made before and I see the logic in it but I refuse to let myself believe this is the case. That they would close her final chapter in such a way, it's such a disservice to us and to her character. I sincerely hope this isn't the case but the why is not particularly important to me. Something must be done, that much is clear. Reading what you wrote at the end there also made me sad - I could never let Triss sail away.

BTW, when doing the quests like you described way back...what quest does one leave off and go get Uma? Does it pop back into the que when its time? I am guessing I want to finish the series with Triss when you get the Brothers quest line, right?

No unfortunately despite it being part of one of the big 5 import choices they decided to carry over for all players, the decision doesn't seem to be referenced by Triss.

I dont understand that to be honest.

The Rose of rememberance says if you give it to someone you love the rose will bloom forever. I actually dont think that just because Geralt is stuck between choosing rather Yen or Triss the rose will wither.

It is a gift we as player decided to give Triss in TW2. So for us that means we truly love Triss and want her on Geralts side.

So just because some have chosen Triss in TW2 with the rose and could change their mind in TW3 and go for Yen the whole legend is just meaningless?

In my eyes there should have been an import with consequences regarding Triss and the rose since she is an important person to Geralt. I dont want to say something like "If you dont want to be with Triss from the beginning in TW3 just dont use your import where you romanced Triss"

What I want to say is that IF we use our import where we romanced Triss and gave her the rose we should have had more dialogue options and conversations with Triss regarding our romance/love story with her. And especially regarding the rose which actually cant wither.

I disagree, more content would add more depth, akin to its putting meat on the bones of what is already there, which is a big issue with the Triss romance. It wouldn't solve the consistency issue but it would improve the content as far as i'm concerned. That's not to say i wouldn't like the core arc content fixed i'm just open to other means of improving the content from the already confirmed and paid for expansions that are guaranteed to happen.

To be honest, after finishing my second playthrough in the Witcher 3, i became more of a "Yennefer fan". Dont get me wrong, i want to see more Triss content, i really do. From the very beggining i was planning to have my Geralt stay with her, because of the role play (loosing memory at the beggining of saga, slowly developing a relationship through the three games etc.) i was thinking about. Even with the knowledge from the books i was fully commited to that plan.
Then the Skellige part came, and i saw how good CD Project Red made Yennefer in the game. Same personality, same mentality, even her looks is perfect, just like in the books of Sapkowski. Last Wish quest is for me, as a Witcher book fan a masterpiece. After that i said to myself "i need to play this game one more time, just to see full Yennefer romance".

Overall, CD Project made two fantastic female characters. On side note, i just finished first Witcher, just to see how good it was. I have to give full respect to developers for making second tier character from the books so much interesting in the actual game. You have no idea how much Triss has grown because of the witcher games. That scene in W1, where Geralt is talking with Zoltan and Jaskier (Dandelion in eng.) about his future with Triss was really nice. Thats actually one thing i really wanted to see in W3, one big family meeting. We have a reunion at Kaer Morhen, but its really short.

Sorry for offtopic post. In the end, you have my voice for more content of Triss Merigold.

No you are spot on about Yen! I think the most endearing quality I found with the first play-through keeping true to her was, the warmth she exhibited AFTER the Last Wish...but even THAT infuriated me because you get maybe 2-3 scenes after that with her. And I am not talking about sex scenes...I mean things like the banter Geralt had with her in Freya's garden, the wolf puns made me laugh and reminds you that these two genuinely like to be with one another. Yen just has a tough time 'showing' that with anyone around.

I don't mind the rose withering. There's reasons why it might, Triss being separated from it, the djinn curse, the fact it might be a simple myth etc.
I don't like the existing line regarding the rose and wish i could give it back to her once romanced again. 2nd time round i refused to ask her about it and i'll pretend Geralt will give it back to her as a surprise later.
I do think the rescue by Geralt or Letho should be outright mentioned as it's one of the core import decisions they chose to reflect for all players. That's just odd.

True. But most of those myths are still true like the mask that caused a storm when they were on skellige.

And I dont understand why the description of the rose says "quest item needed to finish a quest" if you cant do anything with it. Hope there will be a way some day to do that.

So, I'm at the end of my second playthrough. And my god, the Act 3...
I knew it. But it is not less painful.

There are a lot of issues with the Triss Romance, but as a lot of you said, some can be explained (the whole thing at Kaer Morhen, because she has to be recruted during the Brothers in Arms quest and so on). Even when we are all in Novigrad (with Avalach, Yennefer...) you can manage to see Triss a bit more by doing the statues quests, giving her back her earrings.

But as soon as everyone leave Novigrad and we arrive in Skellige, it's a disaster. She disappears completely until the end ! And why seriously ? How this can be explain ?

Yennefer, Geralt and Ciri have a wonderful moment together when you visit Avalach laboratory, so why Triss doesn't have a moment with Geralt like this. There are a lot of opportunities without force her to be in the Geralt/Yen/Ciri triangle ! She could go with Geralt and Phillipa to retrieve the sun stone. She could help Geralt to reach the Emperor's boat. But no. Nothing. She stays on this f.... boat and keeps saying "Well ?". Seriously, that's a joke.

Sorry, I knew it when I played, but it still pisses me off. So much.

The one with the empress ending, Geralt says something like "find me" and Ciri replies with "You can't stay at Kaer Morhen forever" - so yeah nothing about Kovir. In fact i don't think i ever saw Geralt even mention Kovir to anyone except Triss, even Phillipa doesn't acknowledge it, kind of hard to catch up with his friends and allies if they all think he is at Kaer Morhen, of couse i guess we have to assume he told everyone off screen about Kovir. In the witcher ending, Triss isn't in it, but Emyrs says "and you?" to which Geralt replies with "someone is waiting for me" and Emyrs responds with "Triss Merigold, fear nor i have no intention of having her pursued" - that is probably more consistent that what Geralt says to Ciri in the empress ending, at least it kind of acknowledges that Triss is waiting in Kovir. Still all this (plus the ending slide) is all that is left about Triss after she says "good luck".

In the empress ending, Triss is with you at the inn with Zoltant and Dandelion, so she's not in Kovir. But if you choose the right dialogue option with Ciri about you leaving, she answers : "Could you at least give Triss some time to pack ?" so their departure for Kovir is implied.
