Anyone know if the main writers from Witcher 2 were changed for the Witcher 3? To be honest I find it very hard to believe that they wouldn't let us romance Triss and planned on her leaving forever at the docks scene, even though everything points to that. I think most likely what happened is they did the Novigrad/Velen/Skellige parts, then beginning at KM/ Act 2 they focused too much on the Ciri/Yen/Geralt story and the other characters got pushed to the background, including Triss. In combination with that they probably had to rush things and kinda slapped Triss in there. I think points 1 and 2 are more likely, the writers must've just thought the story should revolve around Ciri/Yen/Geralt family style and then were like oh crap we need Triss in here too, put her on the boat and make her say.. Well? Well it is! onwards to the rest of the story.Well guy's I hate to keep saying this but hearing an official response from a Developer telling us that they never had any dialogue made or planned for Triss on the boat in Skellige is just yet another confirmation that the Triss romance choice was added after the game was pretty much done, only this time it is not speculative but official right from the horses mouth so to speak.
Need I remind everyone that every single character on that boat has several lines of dialogue available to the player to explore except Triss. Now ask yourself why would they do this?
1. Because they didn't have time?
( no way, QA was all over that boat with a fine tooth comb before release + they would have the voice overs for it for a later patch. )
2. They just forgot to do it?
( not even remotely possible, and if they had they would have all the voice acted dialogue ready to go and it would have been patched. )
3. Triss wasn't supposed to be there.
( Ding Ding, we have a winner, there was never any script with Triss there so there were never any voice overs for her actor's to do and by the time they decided that she should be there it was too late to bring all the voice actors back to do any dialogue scenes. )
So there you have it, it was not a bug, they didn't forget, they didn't run out of time before release, it was just never written in their original plan for Triss to be there so no script was ever done.
This games romance story was about getting back together with Yennefer and ending things with Triss, CDPR being huge book fans probably just didn't realize how many people would hate that ending until the very end.
To their credit they tried to correct their mistake but I imagine it was just not possible to do it right by the time they decided to correct it. To do it right would have meant a complete revamp to the flow of the game to a more logical flow where you wouldn't be forced into a decision before getting to know both Triss and Yennefer equally and that just wasn't going to happen without a launch delay and a lot of money and I don't believe it will ever happen in the future.
The best we can hope for now is that they acknowledge the mistake and do something along the lines of a Kovir expansion pack as an apology after the 2016 expansion pack comes out.
Hey Trireme, how do you feel about your french playthroughThe other problem there are many voice actresses for all the different languages. They won't do anything for just one language.
On a positive side, Triss' VA (Jaimi Barbakoff, english version) has a history with CDPR and since about 20011 MAINLY worked on video game VOs...so it stands to reason that she would be used somewhere on CP2077. So the relationship with the company and the talent is already in place. The other problem there are many voice actresses for all the different languages. They won't do anything for just one language.
Yeah i think it was stated from someone else that the lead writer for the Witcher 2 was working on the Witcher 3 but then moved on to Cyberpunk.Anyone know if the main writers from Witcher 2 were changed for the Witcher 3?
I'm really enjoying it! French Triss is adorable!Hey Trireme, how do you feel about your french playthrough
The logical answer, to that, is that she was supposed to die at the battle of KM alongside Vesemir for additional emotional impact.@zaskar70
But what/where exactly was Triss added last minute?
Was she supposed to vanish to Kovir initially, then pop up at Kaer Morhen then vanish again for the final act?
That's what make this game to be good in French, these little things.I'm really enjoying it! French Triss is adorable!
There are also some subtle differences in the conversations between French and English versions, so the game is full of little surprises. I wish I spoke Polish so I could try that version too.
Well, I am a stats nerd so this really caught my attention...I believe they will eventually do something to placate their fans after the mistakes made with Triss. I do not expect anything much more to be done to the existing game though other than maybe some dialogue on the boat in Skellige added.
According to this poll over 900 people are unsatisfied with how they handled Triss, that's over $50,000.00 U.S. dollars worth of people if everyone paid retail for the game, thats a lot of money.
I expect a Triss centric expansion pack at some point in late 2016.
Die? How did you arrive at that conclusion? The logical answer, to that, is that she was supposed to die at the battle of KM alongside Vesemir for additional emotional impact.
On the battle itself, there are plenty of interactions with her, cutscenes, other characters referencing her. Then somehow she is in trouble, her flames are delayed.
And here comes Ciri to the rescue. Except, and now we enter the realm of speculation. Ciri goes to help her, but she is too late. She only finds her corpse (or arrives as they are killing her, whatever). Now return to the game as we have it. There is NO scene of her throwing her magic on the wild hunt, we are only shown the corpses. Do you think in an all out fight, with so many unique and cool scenes thrown around, they would have restrained themselves from showing the iconic "Merigold's Hailstorm"?
Anyway, that never happened, Vesemir dies and at the funeral, there are no dialogues with her. Move on to Novigrad. Triss has very little reactivity with interacting with her regarding the Ciri choice escapade. Sure you have her quest to find Phillipa, only she is barely present in the quest itself, she remains "behind", because Sigi says so? Explain the reasoning, other than the idea to save dialogues. Then we have the brief band aid fountain scene(very good imo).
And that's it really. Only real unique line after that is a generic "good luck". No unique dialogues, no quests involving her, nothing. There's the threesome part, but that was actually very short and an aftereffect of the fact that the player might now choose both women.
I know this is wild speculation, but as Sherlock Holmes once said, when you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth.
I know a RED in another thread STOMPED on someone for suggesting this...the poster mentioned that the lead writer was replaced and the RED unequivocally denied it, angrily even. The person was sent to lead the writing on CP2077 he said BUT, he stayed in daily contact with his old staff and was a part of all their decisions.Anyone know if the main writers from Witcher 2 were changed for the Witcher 3?

I for one think not...Well Triss voice actor can be contacted probably through her agency.

Please understand that we're not asking her to sign our petition but rather for her feedback, feelings and if she felt Triss deserved more screen time or not. Better yet, I know she'd be bias but who would she choose between Triss and Yennefer and why? I'd be interested to hear.
Anyone else think it's a good idea?
No shit sherlock, but do you have any formal proof of it?The logical answer, to that, is that she was supposed to die at the battle of KM alongside Vesemir for additional emotional impact.

So...that kind of talk will get attention...I for one accept their response.
I think the plan for Triss was the same as they had for Shani as they moved into TW2. As Triss was the LI in TW2 only...so was Yen to be the only choice in TW3. It was their chance to reconnect the Book canon and Game canon for the FINAL end of Geralt's story.
As the Knight said in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade: "He(they) chose poorly."

Actually just played through that scene again today...
If that is your argument, there is a bit just after that where Triss is crying out for Geralt to help, she can't hold the gate any longer...and just as Geralt gets there there is an explosion. It stutters, as if a splice was thown in and Triss thanks Geralt for getting there just in time. THAT would have been a rough scene to go through having to watch her get shattered by The Hunt right before Geralt can get there...

We are all fans...and that is short for FANATIC BUT...I for one don't want to be that guy. If you run into her at ComicCon or a trade show, thats one thing BUT...it feels like mild-stalking to me. Just one old guys opinion.![]()
I really hope that wasn't the idea that CDPR had, it would be like a boxing match round one Shani vs Triss - Triss wins, round 2 Triss vs Ves (or the succubus. or Cynthia etc), Triss wins, round 3 Triss vs Yen - Yen wins after coming back from retirement (i know it sounds ridiculous).I know a RED in another thread STOMPED on someone for suggesting this...the poster mentioned that the lead writer was replaced and the RED unequivocally denied it, angrily even. I agree with all that and find no fault in that line of thought!I really hope that wasn't the idea that CDPR had, it would be like a boxing match round one Shani vs Triss - Triss wins, round 2 Triss vs Ves (or the succubus. or Cynthia etc), Triss wins, round 3 Triss vs Yen - Yen wins after coming back from retirement (i know it sounds ridiculous).
In my opinion it just seems like CDPR were under pressure to introduce Yen and Ciri to the games and that they had to do it in a memorable way to make sure people who read the books would feel like they did those characters a great service...in the end they can build them up to be a central focus on the storyline and then characters from the previous games would have to take a back seat for this game. I think it is one of the focuses of the game in that they wanted Geralt to try to get back what he had from the books and that the previous games were the lead up to it - problem with that is it doesn't take into consideration what Geralt went through in the previous games to say 'hey Triss is a valid option and she can be considered the most important person in Geralt's life'. It just focuses more on making Geralt's final and most personal story more akin to the stories from the books.
You are like Santa Claus to me. Always have some goodies to share with us.Well, I am a stats nerd so this really caught my attention...
What we should be trying to figure out is, how many of that 4 mil copies sold fall into line with the 900+ owners who have an issue? If we do some quick and hard (albeit inaccurate)math lets see what we get.
13% of ALL the threads on the forum is in the Suggestion sub-forum and nearly a quarter of THOSE posts are in this single thread! Even more impressive, over 3% of the ALL TIME post total on TW3 forum, thats from November 2013 to right now...of all those, this one thread has garnered 3% of them and we have done that in less than 30 DAYS!!!
So, I think it would be fair to say that this thread represents a larger number of customers than the math would show(0.00025%) of the purchases. I believe that if you present our 'argument' to any fair minded gamer who has played through the story, at the very least the majority would agree that something just doesn't seem right.
That reflects to a LOT of cash right there...AND a LOT of people who might walk away from this game with a sour taste in their mouths. And maybe the experience with TW3 impacts their decision to invest their resources(time&money) in Cyberpunk 2077! I know I fall into that category.
