The Triss content and the inconsistency of our romance's choice

I think the main problem with doing character specific romance DLC for The Witcher is that there is a fairly even split in the community between Triss and Yennefer and as a developer you would want any DLC or expansions to appeal to your entire audience and not just a segment of it no matter how large that segment might be.

that would make sense if there was equality between both characters in romance..... there isn't.... yennefer has a good 1 hour and 30 minutes or near 2 hours of romance..... triss has about 23 minutes....

also.... i dont see yennefer fans being upset about the romance wit her..... triss fans however are not happy..... so far from what everyone said in here.... they shouldn't be.... i didn't play the previous games and i'm not happy

Sure, as keyword here is ADDITION. I played Witcher 2 when it came out and later the EE (last time right before signing up). They did do a great job.
But from that (which had also possibly a less noble reason behind it, with the X360 release?) to what it would take it's a big step and a much more disruptive kind of work.

W2 EE: redecorating/revamping a room
W3 EE(it'd be needed for what you were saying): tossing out the furniture and buying new one, maybe bring down a wall etc.


What is actually in the proposition could be: buying a new drawer, trimming the curtains, a couple new lamps.

Well what they could do for an enhanced edition is rework the game flow without changing much by having the player visit Skellige much earlier then bounce between Skellige and Novigrad more spreading out the Yennefer and Triss quests more evenly.

They could rework Ugly Baby by adding additional content that included Triss.
They could add additional content to both act 2 and 3 to flesh out a lot of characters story arcs including Triss.
They could add additional content with both Triss and Yennefer as well as the other characters in Dandelions Inn during final preparations.

They could do a lot more to resolve this issue and many others by doing an enhanced edition is what I am saying.

Actually they added a massive amount of new content to The Witcher 2 with it's enhanced edition, even a completley new area. I have no doubt that CDPR could do the same for The Witcher 3 if they were so inclined.

The question we all have on our minds really is are they so inclined? or are they content enough with what they have done. I for one do not want any bandaid solutions.

I think one of the first things they may do is add dialogue options to Triss on the boat in Skellige as this looks to be a most obvious mistake on their part as every other character on the boat has dialogue options except Triss. After that nothing else seems really doable without an enhanced edition besides a romance DLC and I don't think we will get that.

You know, I've asked/stated/cried about this a few times and I don't think I've ever been clear...

CDPR has stated there will be no EE for TW3. But do you think they only mean they will not RE-RELEASE another version? It would mean a new retail box and all the distribution stuff that goes with it...as I've alluded to a few times, they could do everything an EE would be but release it via patches PLUS the DLC/Expansion Packs. They might sink the resources to it but they won't CALL it an Enhanced Edition cause of the connotation that brings with.

This is exactly what I wanted to say. If being with Triss is a choice. It definitely doesn't feel like a valid one due to all of the inconsistencies.

I played a Yen romance on my seocnd playthrough , and I can confirm - the romance is present in a lot of the convos - small things like in the UMA scene:

If you romanced her she will tell Eskel she wants Geralt to clean her and no one else
If you chose Triss then she will tell Eskel she doesn't bite and to get on with it.


Small things like this are present throughout the game if you choose Yen and that makes all the difference.

Given that there's currently no explanation as to why you broke up and stopped travelling together, dialogue that allows you to catch up with events between TW2 and TW3 would be something for Act 3 dialogue on the boat. Again, this is another disparity between the two stories. You get that dialogue with Yen. You can ask what she did after they escaped the Wild Hunt, ask why she didn't look for you. You can have that conversation. With Triss it's just another example of her being seen but not heard.

Small things like that are not present if you romance Triss. Which is why we're so upset about it, lol.

I think a "Improved Edition" via sum of free patches, paid dlcs, expansions is likely. With improved upon romance (among other content)? sure. But a free EE for PC players like W2? Makes no sense, given CDPR's priorities and no incentive at all to be made (unlike W2).

Plus, even from a PR standpoint, is it not 10x better to do incremental upgrades so that the fans can calm down (not to mention get hooked up on the business model), instead of having them wait what? A entire year? Maybe 1.5 for an EE?

I think CDPR wants to do this right but...I also think they may have their hearts on TW3 but if they wait too long, their collective minds will be on CP2077
