I love how CDPR carefully transferred the character from the books to the game. It makes the whole Triss romance f* up more painful.

They went too far with the transfer. Especially when it comes to Triss's content. They're leaking the painful memories from their old affair into their new one. Which is one of the main reasons why everyone is suffering from depression and came here to vent about it.

Triss is Geralt's Favorite Mistake

“Don’t resist. Don’t defend yourself. I can guess why you turned to me rather than her. Overcome your pride, crush your rancour and obstinacy. There is no point to it, you’ll torture yourself to death. And you are risking Ciri’s health and life in the process. Another trance is liable to be more dangerous to her than the Trial of Grasses. Ask Yennefer for help, Geralt.”

“And you, Triss?”

“What about me?” She swallowed with difficulty. “I’m not important. I let you down. I let you down… in everything. I was… I was your mistake. Nothing more.”

“Mistakes,” he said with effort, “are also important to me. I don’t cross them out of my life, or memory. And I never blame others for them. You are important to me, Triss, and always will be. You never let me down. Never. Believe me.”

She remained silent a long while.

“I will stay until spring,” she said finally, struggling against her shaking voice. “I will stay with Ciri… I will watch over her. Day and night. I will be with her day and night. And when spring is here… when spring is here we will take her to Melitele’s Temple in Ellander. The thing that wants to possess her might not be able to reach her in the temple. And then you will ask Yennefer for help.”

“All right, Triss. Thank you.”

“Geralt?”

“Yes.”

“Ciri said something else, didn’t she? Something only you heard. Tell me what it was.”

“No,” he protested and his voice quivered. “No, Triss.”

“Please.”

“She wasn’t speaking to me.”

“I know. She was speaking to me. Tell me, please.”

“After coming to… When I picked her up… She whispered: ‘Forget about him. Don’t torture him.’”

“I won’t,” she said quietly. “But I can’t forget. Forgive me.”

“I am the one who ought to be asking for forgiveness. And not only asking you.”

“You love her that much,” she stated, not asking.

“That much,” he admitted in a whisper after a long moment of silence.

“Geralt.” “Yes, Triss?”

“Stay with me tonight.”

“Triss…”

So they have at least a year and a half to fix everything. Let's hope REDs treat their mistakes as Gelart does.

Yep if you romanced Triss, then she is there she has a couple of lines and Ciri mentions her right at the end....

Despite what many say, I think that ending is not a good one, but it is probably the best. The reason it is the best is because you get to see you love interest and friends one last time. Saying goodbye to Ciri is also enough to make you cry once again. I got the witcheress ending and was really happy because it is the best ending. I was never a fan of happy endings though. I love the bad ending and neutral endings even though I would feel like shit if I got it first playthrough.

I agree, i don't really like happy endings, if it was up to me then as long as Geralt and Triss get there 'happy ever after' then the rest of the world could burn because it is more realistic for some characters to be ok at the end and others not to be ok. Saying goodbye to Ciri was very emotional and bittersweet and to me it seemed like the devs put more effort into that ending, plus Ciri not getting what she really wanted makes sense to how the world works. It is a cruel world, where hoping for the best is different to getting the best outcome. The witcher ending is the most 'happy' but i like a neutral/semi happy ending. Plus seeing Triss and his other friends again can encourage the player to go for that ending. I guess it is more to do with what ending you interpret as the best for the choices you made and how you see the world.

REDDorigen spend a lot on time viewing this thread yestersay. I wonder what he was doing the whole time. It would have been nice for him to drop a line of encouragement.

I hope he read our list and the updated front page at least.

This whole Triss and Geralt romance debacle has left a pretty bad taste in my mouth. I have not touched the game for over a month, can not bring myself even look at it. Expected so much but, got so little. Do not want to go through the empty feeling again.

Her being the Empress of Nilfgaard with everything that she is (This line is from The Witcher 1) A princess, A witcheress and sorceress. The Nilfgaardian empire will have a just ruler and that empire will thrive under her rule.

I understand that everyone's opinion is different on the matter, but I saw that turning her into a Witcher isn't the life Geralt wanted for her. Nothing good comes out of it expect pain and suffering.
My Gerelt is politically neutral so I don't see him being overly concerned for the Nilfgaardian Empire and with all the things that she is combined makes me hate slapping Empress on top even more. It's just a bit too heavy handed for my tastes.

Also, I think one of themes in the game is letting Ciri go to decide her own path in life regardless of where that path may end. Being a Witcher seems like the only one she would willing choose on her own with very little regret.

She helped him create a stable personality, she could've took advantage of him, tried to make turn him into the Geralt she wants. But she didn't, she told him that she doesn't want him to turn into her vision of Geralt's, she wanted him to reach that point by himself. She saved him more than once (Adda's kiss of death was the first thing I recalled)

The love letter after that was definitely a huge step up in their relationship. After Geralt went back to Vizima and talked to her about running away together, starting a new life and building a family was one of my favorite moments in their relationship.

Been re-playing W1, just finished chapter 4 last night. After so many years since my last playthrough, I had totally forgot about the letter and being able to reply. I really liked that. I also really liked when Triss said she wouldn't make him what she wanted him to be. Triss is AWESOME!

YES SHE IS. Every step in her development her love for Geralt shines and his feeling for her really puts him in character. He is alway himself with her.

He doesn't get treated like a dog or strung along like lowly Witcher. He's an equal partner in the relationship. Why would anyone let a women like that go?
