I hope I'm wrong though about how open this game world will be.

I have a feeling that some loading screens in between the zones of the city. My imagination is stretched just thinking what they can do inside the city...it is just too much to try and ponder on the wasteland though.

I do believe that we will be able to go out there, but probs in a scripted controlled setting with limited explorability. If Im wrong and you can fly from one end of the map to the other going outside the city like in gta series then great, that would be awesome, but just in case thats beyond the scope of the game for the devs I'd rather not burden them in their forums about way too high expectations.

I have no probs with them exhausting all their resources on the details of Night City, in fact I feel it would be more potent that way and I could get a bigger hit.

No, no.

Burden away! It's years until release and months if not years until solid news hits us. Hope! Dream! Invest!

I want contrast, so i want wasteland and oceans. No City is an island and I feel the contrast, even a touch, would improve Night City dramatically. I had a post about seeing the lights of the City at night as you watch traffic roll in...that's what I want.Perspective.

Otherwise I feel Night City will be more like Night City Open World Prison.

Edit: "Into....THE WASTELAND!"

Singapore...

But yes, The wasteland would not need to be all that huge. To the north, east and west of Night City is the sea. Only to the south is there any actual land.

I said before, at some point, that I would like to see a 'floating shanty town' built in one of the harbours.

I don't mind cut-scenes for 'fast-traveling' if the option is there, (whcih I hope it is,) though I don't see a need for them otherwise. Fallout has a pretty big wasteland and the only loading screens are to different environments. Loading screen wont be needed for the msot part, though I expect a few at some point.

Singapore doesn't exist. It is a mindset, an ideal. If you live long enough, maybe you'll see it, Neo.

Also, apparently it's a bunch of islands, (63!)....surrounded by water and stuff. So..water wasteland? I dunno. I got nothing. Apparently there is stil alittle rural and they are making more? Dragon could tell us.

Night City itself is more than the peninsula, quite a lot more. There is the downtown core, the combat zone and the suburbs of South Night City, Coronado, etc.

But, yeah, I see where you are going: they could easily fill a great game world with just the primary Night City metroplex and the Combat Zone.

i don't like fast-travel on principle.

you do realize its already been confirmed that this is an open world game right? Again, not sure why you feel there would have to be cut scenes.

Well in Witcher 2 all conversations you took part looked like cut scenes anyway, and it was great!

Oh and Sard water wasteland as in Costner's Waterworld? :D

I got no problem with some waterworld piracy going on on the ocean in 2077... that would fucking rock.

I don't see why vast, open spaces has to be difficult / resource heavy. Fallout 3 / New Vegas did it, Red Dead Redemption did it.

Simply put, there has to be more than just the city itself, regardless of how you feel about Rockerboys. Variety, diversity, all mixed together in a stew of hopelessness and desperation... this is the nature of cyberpunk.

Having a Wasteland area is a must. And i don't think it would be resource heavy. Also, how about building our own Nomad tribe in the Wastelands? (It should be really hard to accomplish, and only after a long line of quests we should be able to fully establish our place in Nomad society.)

We could claim ownership of a bunker or some place like that, and make that place our base. (We could also have some sort of companion to help us build our Nomadic group, much like a housecarl.. (OK, bad example, you all get the idea.) Then to make the bunker operational we should have to, barter for a generator, recruit people (Some of those people should be fully interactive, telling us what should we do to keep the tribe strong, while others should be like homies in SR3), acquire bunch of weapons, armors and vehicles. (Either by stealing or finding some other way to obtain them.) Then, after accomplishing all that, we should be able to decide what kind of Nomadic society we want to build. (And it should be unique.) And what kind of Nomadic society you can build should depend on your background. (A ex-cop's group would be more like Mad Max, while group of someone with a corp background would be more like well organized mercenaries)

After all that, we could ally ourselves with some of the tribes and go to war with some others. (Allying yourself with one tribe could also cause you to go war with another) Imagine all the battles we can enjoy!

What do you all think?

I like the idea a lot, but it does sound more like a DLC type of thing. Unless the story that they are trying to tell with the game is very Nomad-centric this would seem like a lot of time spent 'off topic' as it were. I certainly do want to have Nomad bands that I can interact with (i.e. shoot the crap out of those homeless scum).

And if there is room for role specific quest lines like the one you described I would like there to be similar ones for the other roles. Also I would like to be able to interact with those story lines, probably in a more limited fashion, from the outside, as seen from a different role's perspective.

Anyway I think that being able to see and interact with what the the American wasteland has become is an important way to set the tone and theme for Cyberpunk in Night City.

I always thought the game is going to be freedom based. I would hate it if it had a non-branching storyline. If you have a corp background, you should be able to leave the corp life and build your Nomad tribe. Or if you have a fixer background, you should be able to leave all that and join the corps. (Assuming one would give you the opportunity to do so for a price.) And you may not even have to leave everything behind, you can be both nomad and a corp. You can't start as "Nomad/Corp" but you can do that later in game. Also, what kind of nomadic society you can have would heavily depend on your background, for instance, a nomadic society lead by a corp guy would be more like mercenaries, while a nomadic society lead by a cop or more likely ex-cop would be Mad Max like. (For the lack of a better word)

You should be able to whatever you damn please. But all should add up to the story. (Like Wisdom's story webbing idea)

Also, what you are saying doesn't really make any sense. Did Skyrim seemed like Bard's Collage-centric? Or Companions-centric? Or Mage's Collage-centric? Did they felt really that off topic? At least Cyberpunk does have a few useful factions.

Last two pictures yes.... others, not so much. The wasteland is really just the rural landscape of northern california. No crumbling cities (at least not in the vicinity of NC.
