Hi Guys, I'm new here at the forum, so i'm posting here at the Welcome Thread, i just wanted to give more visibility to an issue on the Witcher 3 Next-Gen 4.04 Version, i reported it as a bug on the official CD Projekt Red Support website, and now i'm here to spread the word out in hopes they'll fix it.
So with the Next-Gen Upgrade, a lot of things were made and i loved every addition to the game, but unfortunately, one mechanic, the one i always loved the most, is now bugged. The Witcher 3 is my absolute favorite game of all time, and the first few times i tried to play it, i didnt like the combat, coming from a soulsborne experience.
But then i found out one thing that blew my mind, the sign Quen, which became my favorite Sign, had an incredible mechanic in the game for its standard cast mode where, if you combine physical reduction from armor, Arachas and Griffin decoction, Protective Coating, AND actually lots and lots of sign intensity for quen, and you active it, it will be able to protect you for more than just ONE blow from enemies, and really TWO for me would be enough, i love poise and hyperarmor mechanics that are applied in a balanced manner, (shout out to Dark Souls 3) and i love high risk/high reward in combat.
So to explain how it works, there's Base Quen Sign Intensity that gives you 200 Physical Damage Reduction + each 1 % point invested in sign intensity, e.g. 200 Damage Reduction + 400% Quen Sign Intensity = 1000 damage Reduction, so let's suppose with enough armor, a sword blow hits you for 900 damage, the Quen shield protects you for that first attack, and there's still 10% left for total invulnerability for another attack, so basically, thats hyper armor for 2 attacks, plus if you use Flood of Anger skill (My favorite Skill), then you "Parry" with Quen at the right time, you will get lots of sign intensity for a lot of hyper armor IF you cast it right before the enemy hits you, so after i used my criativity to find all that out, i thought, this has to be the best mechanic for the ones of us who love poise and hyperarmor from the souls games. i just fell in love with the rest of the game, just because of that.
The problem now, is that after the Next-Gen version, which i loved by the way, unfortunately, the game only considers for protection the base 200 Physical Damage Reduction, so all the additional sign intensity you invest in Quen won't protect you from blows in a poise manner, sign intensity will normally work for the alternative Mode which is the Active Shield, so more sign intensity = more healing and you will block more attacks, also more sign intensity makes you reflect more damage for the tier 4 skill of the quen sign tree, so all of that is just amazing, but the standard cast for Quen, now is bugged ☹. so i hope people and specially CDPR sees this thread i made, and fixes this, cause i love this game so much, it's my all time favorite, and this mechanic for Quen, was the very thing that got me into loving the combat of the game more than any other, it was the thing that won me over for the game, so i can't play it without that.
