The Wild Hunt (Spoiler)

Hi!

I love the Witcher games and their story, however, there is one thing I just don't understand. In The Witcher (1), you kill nine of the spectres in the wild hunt when you are doing the quest "Hunting The Wild Hunt". At the end of the game, you kill the king of the Wild Hunt, if I remember correctly. How come the Wild Hunt still exists in The Witcher 2, and seems to be the main plot in the upcoming The Witcher 3? I am very confused by this. Please explain!

You can never kill a spectre, only "send it away".

You cannot kill the spectres, just repel them. Most of the answers are in the books, but we'll probably get to know the story behind the Wild Hunt in The Witcher 3 :)

In fact, you cannot kill him because he's not quite material . You only can make him run out his energy or mana wich keep him in this plane fighting him. Then he returns (not dies) to his plane desappearing, from this one. By counterpart his energy is so powerful that he can kill a material bieng of this plane as Geralt.

It is said in one video, as QueenSlayer said: You can never kill a spectre, only "send it away".

Didn't geralt stated that his memory started to return, and when cynthia asked him since when he replied something like.

"Since I killed the King of Wild Hunt." Though that would only happen if you did, in TW1.
And is some of the flasbacks didn't geralt also said that wild hunt or its specters were bleeding and dying but they were too many to kill.

I don't remember the exact lines but anyway Geralt just killed a spectre in TW1, not the actual king of the hunt. The flashbacks take place before Geralt's amnesia when he was chasing the hunt. Back then he did kill actual riders but not their king.

So There are 2 flavors of the Wild Hunt. If you read the books you get to learn more about them. Most of the time they send specters that they control to carry out their missions. On special occasions they can send their actual bodies. So during the TW1 he drives away their spectres, but during the flashbacks he is really killing them because they came to his world with their bodies.

Yes, when he traded himself for Yennifer, they came in their material bodies, flesh and blood.
