The Witcher 1 has to be the most annoying game ever!

I am so close to beating it I just want to be done!!!!

I am stuck on stupid Zeugl and I can not get passed him! My silver sword misses the things like 20 times before I finally hit. By that time I am down to half life then get kill by the Zeugl.

My Ignite randomly stops working after 3 uses even with the yellow bar full!

Once chapter 4 hit enemies got really hard and I can't get through this game without dying 20 times.

All I want to do is beat this game and be done with it but I can't!!!! No cheats, can't change difficulties, nothing!

Why can't it just be over (

I have no rebis! It's been hard to find this whole game! I have 200 of the other things but no rebis!

I don't mean to complain but every time I start getting into this game stuff like this happens. Like getting 20 pelts from the elves by killing them. Awesome quest! Except I can't loot any of them because I am in none stop combat with other ones. Then I can't get into the hospital because they don't stop coming.

Quest that seem to be fun and enjoyable suddenly turn annoying where I just want to get passed it.

I really hope Witcher 2 doesn't have these problems :(

2 quick questions:

Why does health not restore on it's own (I have no more food)

Why does my spells randomly stop working? I can't cast them in battle after so many times!

Hit it with Igni. Fireball on tentacles and it's over. Use bombs also: dragon's dream. Argentia on the blad should help a little. See this vid:

Raffard decoction isn't the key. Swallow potion is.

For Rebis, collect Cadaverine (kill drowners and necrophages; the Swamp Cemetery and Old Vizima have plenty of them) or Celandine. It's sort of too late if you're in the Epilogue already, though.

I have never seen spells "randomly stop working", but you can lose control of Geralt if your frame rate gets too low.

sounds like my STALKER game, I was infected w/ radiation during the last mission and didn't have enough healthpacks to make it to the very end cutscene... after about 30 times trying to barely get there I quit and watched the ending on youtube >.

There should also be a place of power when you get into that part of the sewer . Be sure and hit that up . If all else fails send me the save and i`ll add some celandine for you .

I have a better question. How could Zeugl just hide in the sewers? The water in the sewers is not so deep (it barely reachs geralt's ankle) and teh monster is freaking big!!

From "Monsters and Portals", an academic course taught in Ban Ard

"When Zeugl approaches a projected point, in a place where two realities meet, a sub-material membrane separating them disintegrates, and the inter-dimensional portal is created. After the monster emerges into another reality, the membrane closes again until another transition is enabled."

The two most important potions you should have at all times are Swallow and Tawny Owl. I keep those two potions almost always on Geralt when in "danger zones" and rarely have any issues with any monsters at all, and this is on hard mode. The only difficult fight, imo, is The Beast, because the game is an asshole during this fight. As for the Zuegl, make sure you are using the correct stance for one. Although, if you made it this far, I suspect your tactics aren't the issue unless you've just been incredibly lucky. But Tawny Owl plus Igni spamming is an easy button in this game

You can in fact cheat. There is a savegame editor. Use it to buy all the talents you want. You can also give yourself runestones and all the alchemy ingredients and potions you need to help with the fight.

I sympathize with some things you mentioned. I've had the problem with signs not firing when they should, but very, very rarely. I've read about it but I don't know what causes it.

And I agree, the mechanism where you can't loot anything or go indoors while in combat is especially annoying in Chapter 5 - the enemies in Vizima spawn endlessly and the Drowners in the swamps stop you from going into the caves.

It's also true there is not as much Rebis in the game as there should be because the Han plant is bugged and gives you Bebercane Fruit instead of Han Fibers. Just for posterity I'll mention Corylea's fix for this bug. I suffered from Rebis shortages as well before I installed this fix.

Sorry you're not enjoying it. It's one of my favorite games and I've lost count of how many times I've played it, despite the rough edges.

I don't see the problem . I only played Enhanced Edition of the first game and it's my most favorite RPG of this generation , even more than Witcher 2 . Some people can't see a masterpiece hidden inside of those old graphics and stiff animations . One of the best games of this generation and best RPG , hands down .

Zeugl lives in the sewers and feeds itself with filth.
Geralt already killed one in Aedd Gynavael. It lived in the city ditch ("A Shard of Ice" short story, from "The Sword of Destiny" collection by A. Sapkowski).

If you constantly miss, chances are high that you're using the wrong fighting style... or haven't upgraded them in time.

technique, potions, patient, and a good use of the mouse and keyboard.

If you put the game in hard, and try to play it flat... that´s the manner to F#"$ a game experience... the game is awesome for me, and at least for all those game awards winners it has. I believe that is the lack of gamer than issues with your game in your case.

Let´s see: there are an editor (i start using it after the 1st run i made) and i can pass you a . lua that i change myself to let geralt have more health and stamina, and run a little faster. maybe with that you can do something else.

The game is awesome, and if you read the books, will love it more than before. But in the other hand, if you are playing this game because you had nothing else to do (playing battlefield or something) then, you will have a hard time here.

Shame you didnpt enjoy it, im going for my 4th run

That Zeugl. With the proper talents, it shouldn't be annoying. Especially the parry/dodge ones. If you cannot fight it, though, you can always reload to a point before the boat after killing Javed, and return to Raven's Crypt to farm it, up until to the point that no more talent points are earned with each level up (3-5 runs will give you a level). With all those talents, especially if strategically used (like the silver sword, strong style/immolation, igni). Geralt will become so strong that you won't believe it.

If you want only to kill it, use group silver style to brush off its tentacles, and when its head emerges, igni it (if you can immolate it too all the better), and strong silver style it until it hides again. Try drinking a swallow, eating some wyvern eggs/meat, potions for melee/swords damage (sorry, do not remember names, it's been a lot of time since 1) and try evasive moves like double directional button tap.

Shouldn't be hard at all. And do not badmouth this masterpiece of a game. You are doing something wrong. In normal, its pretty easy.

With this topic title, i hope you don't expect help? In any case, you didn't post at the quests discussion, so i have every right to reply in the way i like.

I have to agree: The Witcher is an annoying game, yes. I suppose it annoyed much all the big gaming companies by raising the standards so high.

Luckily for us gamers.
